Personally I always get confused with the band names Temper Trap and Passion Pit, as they kind of 'appeared' at a similar time, even though they are obvs different, but I just lobbed them in together as I couldn't deal with names that shared a similar concept. Or even the same word or antonym of said word (see: Black Keys, Black Kids, Cold War Kids, Black Lips, White Lies).

I do that too! I had to just look their respective work on YouTube to remember which one I like. It's definitely Passion Pit. Sleepyhead is an amazing track.

Hey kids. Old Man Sostie here to inform you of some essential purchases and in turn moan about the state of music.

Remember when Indie music was more than skinny fit jeans and curly hair? Well it was and here's a chance to catch up the best of the best

JESUS & MARY CHAIN Deluxe Sets

All their studio albums released in 2 CD + 1 DVD glory ( and yes I do realise that at some point the Reid brothers did sport skinny jean and curly hair)

THE SMITHS Deluxe Collector's Box

OK, £250 is a bit expensive (there are other, cheaper versions being released - CD album only box for a little over £30) but for your money you do get

A heavyweight trunk boxset including:
> All eight album releases taken back to original tape sources and remastered by Johnny Marr and Frank Arkwright
> All eight albums on Mini LP replica style CDs in gatefold card wallets
> All eight albums on 12” vinyl LPs (5 singles, 3 doubles)
> 25x 7" Singles (the entire The Smiths Singles collection) inc. specially reproduced rarities
> A 36" x 24" Poster of all album and single cover artwork
> ‘The Complete Picture’ DVD of the band's music videos
> An 8 page 12" booklet feat. expanded liner notes
> 8x 12" art prints of each album cover artwork
> An Exclusive Code to download the whole catalogue as high quality MP3s (320k)

Ideal for all fans of great music with more money than sense..or more taste than money.

Not so much a forthcoming album as a released last Monday album, but Supergrass fans may be happy to learn that frontman Gaz Coombes has just released his first solo album, entitled Here Come The Bombs - what I've heard thus far is purdy good, if somewhat experimental in places (but that's a good thing too, right?)

Anyway, if the link still works, you can listen to the album online for free HERE. Yay!

And how the heck did I manage to overlook this(?):

Can't pass up the opportunity to hear Shatner cover the Dolby. So it's off to Amazon I goes...

I'm rather looking forward to the new album being Kickstartered by Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra.
You may have already guessed this.

Seems to have been kept pretty quiet, but apparently Muse are releasing a new album, The 2nd Law, on 19th September. Hopefully it'll be better than The Resistance was, but it's gonna have to be pretty damned good to even touch Black Holes & Revelations.

I just heard the dubstep track... *shakes head* Can see why they've kept it quiet.

Oh dear. And I heard their 'Official Olympic Song', Survivor for the first time at the closing ceremony... it's fair to say that I was far from impressed.

'Madness'? I actually really like that one.

Been listening to the album on Spotify - I really rather like it. I'm even getting used to the overblown histrionics of 'Survival'. Overall it's a far better album than The Resistance, I feel.
