A Paltrow family affair

GWYNETH PALTROW's younger brother, 29-year-old Jake Paltrow, is to follow in the footsteps of their late director father, Bruce, by making his first feature film. The Good Night focuses on two men's dating exploits in London and New York and Gwyneth will be taking a role. I also hear that English comedy actors Martin Freeman and Simon Pegg have been lined up to play the wannabe lotharios. Shooting is set take place later this year. Pegg and Freeman are mates with Gwyneth's husband Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. So should we expect a Coldplay score?

Sounds totally unconfirmed at this point. But...I believe all the wimmin who had their knickers in a twist over the Pegg/Freeman pairing over in the 3UP's thread would be completely justified in dribbling just a little bit right now. happy.gif

And there it is...

Paltrow, Freeman & Pegg Have Good Night
Source: Variety, October 10, 2005

Gwyneth Paltrow, Martin Freeman (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) and Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) will star in The Good Night, a $15 million romantic comedy written and to be directed by Paltrow's brother, Jake Paltrow.

Variety reports that the film is set in New York but will shoot mainly at London's Ealing Studios. Shooting starts November 7, with a few days of New York filming scheduled for January.

The wry comedy concerns a man's search for perfection in a world where life rarely measures up to the idealized images that constantly bombard us.

Freeman will play a former pop star now reduced to writing advertising jingles amid an early midife crisis. Pegg and Paltrow will play supporting roles.

The trade adds that the female lead has yet to be cast. The part is a dual role as the object of Freeman's romantic interest takes on a very different, idealized form in his fantasies.

Figures the earlier report got it slightly wrong. Still...

From working with Tom Cruise in MI:3, it sounds like Simon will now be working with the ex ... Penelope Cruz in The Good Night. See here.

Filming starts in London 14 Nov.

A friend passed this on from Empire's online newsletter:

QUOTE
Hollywood on our doorstep
Empire often goes to the movies but it's not every day that they come directly to us. Yesterday Empire's sleepy London street (it's just off Oxford Street, 'sleepy' is a relative term) was transformed into central New York, playing host to the first day of filming on The Good Night. Jake Paltrow's new movie, starring sister Gwyneth, Simon Pegg and Martin Freeman, between the Empire office and our breakfast (most unwise), converting our local eatery, Nani's, into a NY deli called Papaya City. Simon Pegg and Martin Freeman were happy to welcome us onto the set for a quick chat but the crew still wouldn't let us pop in for a toasted bagel."

That is very cool!

If they needed anyone to house extras for Hot Fuzz if it were filmed in the Cotswolds, my door would be very open!!! Only if I could be an extra too of course! laugh.gif
