Oh no! Thought it was too good to be true!
Is the Alex Garland rumour false as well, do you know? edit: he's on IMDB under the writing credits so it must be true. Not sure what I feel about that. This post has been edited by kateykinz: Oct 5 2005, 11:43 AM |

No Alex Garland has written the screenplay that is a definite. Peter Jackson is producing according to this story from the BBC website. I'd imagine this is where the confusion has arisen from. Director and case to be named soon apparently.
EDIT I think that Alex G is a very good choice myself, but we'll have to wait and see. This post has been edited by Sir_Robin_the_brave: Oct 5 2005, 12:01 PM |

Alex Garland as the writer was never a rumour, it was a press release from Microsoft and Bungie the whole way.
There have been rumours of both Halo 3 script leaks and Halo:The Movie directors over the last few days which have all been bollocks. The only remotely interesting Halo related news in recent days is that a Halo character will be appearing in DOA4. My money's on an Elite or Tartarus. The Chief would be dumb, as short on crushing the odd skull with a rifle butt he's not so big on hand-to-hand. This post has been edited by Greeba: Oct 5 2005, 12:02 PM |

I heard he was directing, but then again the person who told loves video games and lord of the rings, but is film illiterate. he must have instantly seen Jackson's name next to halo the movie ,put 2 and 2 together and come out with 5. sorry if anyone got excited.

QUOTE (Sir_Robin_the_brave @ Oct 5 2005, 12:44 PM) Alex G is a good author but his film screenplays aren't so good. Having said that I think 28 Days Later was very good so perhaps I should give him the benefit of the doubt. And don't worry Shaunx3 - my boyfriend told me the exact same thing about him directing before you did, seems this particular rumour had a lot of people fooled (or people just didn't realise that executive producer doesn't mean director). I cant understand the interest in a Halo film. The story from the games is a typical American epic- one man against the world- i.e.shite. Really standard genre plot. |

When are people going to realise that it's rare, if ever, that games translate well into movies...
Resident Evil - PANTS Wing Commander - PANTS Street Fighter - PANTS Mortal Combat - PANTS DOOM - Supposedly PANTS Need I go on? |

QUOTE (Svein @ Dec 16 2005, 01:14 PM) When are people going to realise that it's rare, if ever, that games translate well into movies... There was a really good article in (the last?) Edge magazine about game to movie failures, and successes, and also game inspired movies, which seem to have a much better succes rate: Tron, War Games, The Last Starfighter...Resident Evil - PANTS Wing Commander - PANTS Street Fighter - PANTS Mortal Combat - PANTS DOOM - Supposedly PANTS Need I go on? QUOTE story from the games is a typical American epic- one man against the world- i.e.shite. Personally I think Halo could make a decent film. I mean thats basically the story to aliens isn't it?EDIT: and yes, it is a female spartan in DOA4, she's loosely based on the wrestler type characters, and fits very well with the books, where the Spartans are elite warriors, not just gun toting one liners. She has a name, but I can't remember what it is, and can't be bothered to check. Wonder whether you get to see her out of the MJOLNIR? This post has been edited by Jubei: Dec 16 2005, 02:22 PM |
