Having successfully resurrected a TV legend this year, the BBC are planning to resurrect a real one next year as 2006 will see a new 13-part series of Robin Hood that will air in the same Saturday evening time slot as Doctor Who.
You can read more about this here: BBC series needs new Robin Hood Will they be able to better Robin of Sherwood? (hopefully they will use better quality film either way |

QUOTE (widowspider @ Oct 25 2005, 03:53 AM) Ahhhh, good old Little Ron..... They seem to be doing this a lot recently. I wonder if the Beeb are tapping into supposed massive fanbases that exist online to recreate shows they know will have a big following. The only problem with that is that we might go so far down that road that the programmes with limited fan numbers may also eventually get an airing. Like Keeping Up Appearances. Or Birds of a Feather (shudder.....) |

I loved:
"Ooooooooh the white knight" "Nah that wasn't white... more of a beige." "Ooooooooh the white-ish knight"

I'm too old, I was already working (and hence not home in time to watch) when Maid Marion was on!

I saw an old episode fairly recently, and to be honest, even though I'm bigging it up here, it's probably best remembered through rose tinteds.

I've already mentioned this in the Nottingham meet thread, but it's Robin Of Sherwood all the way. As an early teen, it was the singlemost important programme on TV in 1984 for me, and holds many important memories. The BBC will have their work cut out if they are to equal, let alone better R.O.S. in my eyes - but if they do, then Brillo pads! I shall reserve judgement for now, but remain optimistic...
Rose-tinted specs or no, I've just now gawn an' ordered the R.O.S. Complete Series 8-disc DVD box set from Amazon, thanks to all this Hoodie revival talk! I think I'll watch the Extended Edition of Prince Of Thieves now to celebrate. Whoop whoop whoop! |

Saying that, my husband was 20 in 1984. |
