Having successfully resurrected a TV legend this year, the BBC are planning to resurrect a real one next year as 2006 will see a new 13-part series of Robin Hood that will air in the same Saturday evening time slot as Doctor Who.

Robin of Sherwood was great, but the poorer quality film shows through even in the DVD transfers unfortunately.

I've been watching it recently on ITV3 (didn't actually watch it much when it was originally on as we were always in coming back from Gran's when it was on) and actually quite like the slightly poor film quality. It adds ambience. Kind of makes you feel it really is the 12th century. Well, it does to me anyway. The other thing, which was a trait of 80s dramas anyway, is the incredibly long spells of no dialogue. It's all scenary, looks and music. But again, I quite like that. It feels more natural. The new series will probably have a much faster pace to it. They've dropped the slowest character Friar Tuck from the series, no doubt for logistic reasons.
