Personally I'd have to say that the homage to Empire at the end was my favourite part of this episode, but what was yours?

I thought the beginning with the developing of the photographs was a great touch, it set the tone for how the episode was going to go in a spooky and fresh way.

Its a tired-and-tested gag having a point of confusion between 2 people, but the type-writer/affair conversations between Marsh and Tim are very well done. The whole birthday dinner scene is a lesson in creating comedy out of real discomfort and has some great quips and acting ("Bitter, Mike?", Brian reacting too his own criticisms of Twist, etc.).

type writer/affair, chuffin loved it.
Bugsy Malone reference Empire reference. The way it creeps up on you so that for a moment or two you don't realise whats going on (well I didn't anyway) and Mike's Chewy noise was class. "And when Johnny Alpha got killed by that big flying monster in 2000AD" made me really laugh, as did much of that Tim/Mike scene. And the touching fact that Brian doesn't get involved in the cake fight. |

"Bitter, Mike?"
"No, you?" "Do you want a pint of bitter, Mike?" QUOTE (empathy-with-beast @ Nov 21 2005, 04:57 PM) type writer/affair, chuffin loved it. Bugsy Malone reference Empire reference. The way it creeps up on you so that for a moment or two you don't realise whats going on (well I didn't anyway) and Mike's Chewy noise was class. And the touching fact that Brian doesn't get involved in the cake fight. I love the fact that Brian sits there and cries whle they have a cake fight.... and that little hand action he does when he tells Twist she can't just pick him up whenever she wants him lol Mike's Chewy noise kills me every time (not literally of course because that would be plain weird and I would be a zombie... anyway.... back to Spaced....) The 2000AD comment is funkin hilarious.... and Mike's Action Man stylee Eagle Eyes.... and when Tim turns round to him and it looks like Mike's laughing.... AND (lol) on the outtakes when Nick looks at Simon and goes "Fuck it" lol (but wait, there's more) and when Tim goes "What shall we do?" and Mike says "We could go clubbing" and then he goes "Clubbing it is then..."..... love it One of my fave eps.... |

I must say I nearly added the "Clubbing it is!" comment to my post but I thought I'd leave it for someone else - Oooo Mr. Generous!
I like the Bugsy spoof as well, but that's probably because Bugsy Malone is such a cool film. Altogether now . . . We could have been anything that we wanted to be . . . * *I once tried to get a group of church workers to sing that, they didn't see the funny side . . |

The shots of the gang around the table when the dinner begins are brilliant, especially Marsha's evil face at Tim. Props to the 'Bitter Mike?' exchange also. The Empire... ending homage is pure genius too.

Re-watched this ep last night and Mike's eagle eyes, and Brian's installment were my fave parts at the time of watching. Can think of more, but my hands are cold.
Although my mum was pissing herself when Marsha said: "I'm off to Threshers, to do the weekly shop." |
