There's a bit of grafitti down a small alleyway leading into town where the walls are bright white, and someone has drawn a person shape on the wall and then drawn a big penis and hairy balls in the appropriate place.

Ah yes, I remember there. The whitewash and person shapes were only put there to cover up the existing grafitti, I believe.

Since the 80s there is the legendary & simple "ozzy" written on the wall of a bakery. It's still there.

A friend of mine spotted this in germany, and I've later used it as a song lyric, as it is fucking brilliant.

There's two that amuse me a little. First in the toilet of the Sunflower lounge, someone wrote "I woz ere" which someone at a later date has corrected to "Twat was here". The other piece is on a wall that backs onto the trainline. In foot high letters, someone has daubed "Velvet underpants" and drawn an accompanying picture of some Y-fronts with a little cock and bollocks hanging out the leg hole.

Both favorites of mine Jeff, I was at the Sunflower for the first time in ages last night and was most pleased to discover that the little piece of graffiti is still there. The Velvet underpants piece is the highlight of entering Birmingham.

All the bogroll dispensers at Durham university are made by a company called Kimberly Clark, and of course the company name is emblazoned across each one. Someone has very intelligently added the words "sucked my dick" to one of them.

One I saw the other day amused me; where someone has put "all hatfielders are c*nts and take it up the arse" someone else has taken the time to draw a little arrow and add "not fair, some are actually quite nice blokes."

Ross Noble based a whole show on graffiti once, the two highlights being:

On the back of a speeding Transit on the M20:
"Please overtake quietly, refugees sleeping"

and

On the flyleaf of a Gideon Bible:
"All the best. Love God"

He (and many subsequently) has resolved to write this on every Bible he can get his hands on.

On a wall in Stokes Croft in Bristol is daubed "Mudwig is a pettle" which is so utterly cryptic I've spent hours pondering it.

What's a pettle? Is it a good thing? Who's Mudwig and did their mother have a thing for semi-Harry Potter esque words?
