The "Yindie" is us. The Yindie is the follow-up to the Yuppie (Young Urban People). It is a cross-breed between "Yuppie" and "Indie" (Independent). So it is either an independent Yuppie or a Y(oung Urban People)-Indie...

He drinks Chai Latte, has a W-Lan and an iPod and tries to be as independent and individuall as he can be. So he doesn't wear jeans by Gucci, but by Urban Outfitters, whose brand-name not everyone knows.

The Yindie is between 20 and 35 years old and has a job.

Are we Yindie?

Its just scruffy yuppies, that what it sounds like to me, and I guess with a little alteration I'm on my way to becoming one. I hunger for material posessions, have slowly watched my morals and dreams leak out of me like diarrhoea oozing down my thigh, am at my happiest drinking frozen coffee and holding a bag with new clothes in it from an obscure gay lifestyle retailer, but still think I'm keeping it real and going to do something important becuase I wear vests rather than t-shirts like all the fucking clones out there, and combine steel toe capped DM's with three quarter length shorts. Obviously the Yindies don't wear that particular outfits, but they might as well do, I'm just the homosexual military fetishest clothing version.

In my defence though I have an I-pod but don't think its particularly incredible or anything.

Yes, that's exactly it. Just this generation's Yuppies (which is young, urban professtional, btw). They think they are hip individuals, but are just another clique (that being the "indie" clan).
