This week....kerrrrr-azy golf movies
CADDYSHACK Caddy tries to win a tournament to raise money for college. Features a dancing gopher, a floating poo gag and Mr Burns' son. Directed by a Ghostbuster. HAPPY GILMORE Hockey player with "issues" enters the golf circuit to raise money to save his Grandma's house. Features an unconvincing false hand, celebrity beatings and Apollo Creed. Directed by a werewolf killer. This post has been edited by Sostie: Jan 30 2006, 07:18 PM |

Caddyshack. Easily, not just for the brilliance of the comedy ("be the ball, be the ball") but also because it doesn't have Adam Sandler playing the same character he has in every film he's been in.

Shouldn't this be "stickied" to the top o' the page?
In any case, I find I cannot bring myself to vote for either. While I did enjoy Bill Murray's tour-de-fore performance as Carl, or whatever his name is, it wasn't enough to overcome Rodney Dangerfield, Kenny Loggins, and that damned gopher. |

Gilmore is easily one of the funniest films I've ever seen so that's got to be it. As much as I love Chase, Murray and especially Dangerfield in Caddyshack (a lot) Shooter McGavin beats all.

I actually stumbled into both of these films, at the beginning of both though so I didn't lose anything by watching from halfway through... long-story short, loved them both but Gilmore gets it.

Caddyshack.
All ends up!! Rodney dangerfield on a huge, out of control cruiser. Bill Murray with a penchant for killing Gophers. The old boy getting stuck by lightning whilst playing the game of his life. And of course BOOBIES!! (That's an 80's movie staple, right there!) Happy Gilmore, indeed. I mean. It's no 'The Wedding singer, is it?! |

Caddyshack. Its got Bill Murray, Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield. Yay.
Happy Gilmore Good film but it launched the career of Adam Sandler. Boo. |

Glad I'm not alone in my distaste for Rodney Dangerfield. He's like the US version of Tarby. If he wasn't a yank he'd be a fucking nobody in world terms.
I've voted for Happy Gilmore, watching Caddyshack is painful. Almost every character in it is completely unlikeable. This post has been edited by gulfcoast_highwayman: Jan 30 2006, 11:49 PM |
