I resigned myself to that after catching that episode the other week. It really deserves to be on at a resonable time. It's not as if it's chocked full of bad language or poor taste, it's just rubbish scheduling, as usual.

Well I managed to catch the last two episodes of series 3 at 12am last night/this morning. Boy was it good. I'm spoiling nothing plot-wise, but at the end of the last episode in the epilogue Ron Howard meets Maeby (sp?) to talk about an idea. All he says is "I don't really see it as a series, but maybe a movie?"
Please let that be a hint as to the fate of the show because the ending, while good, leaves a truck load of loose ends. |

See I thought the ending was actually pretty resolute; there are revelations made that, IF things had continued in one form or another, could have been explored, but otherwise it seemed like there was a concerted effort to go out both barrels blazing. (And seeing as how we're a ways down the line now and most of the cast has moved on, that's probably where it'll lie. Darn it.) This post has been edited by thirtyhelens: Nov 13 2006, 07:34 PM |

True, there are some major revalations. It's certainly a nice send off for the characters if it does truely mark the end, there were some great ideas that could easily be picked up. It's like a waste of a great show to end it now, I'll be gutted if nothing comes from the teasing closing line.

Supposedly that is the only way that Mitchell Hurwitz would continue with the series, at least according to Michael Cera (George Michael). That was a few months back now but that doesn't mean it couldn't ever happen, though it looks increasingly unlikely. |

This thread reminded me of finding the second and thrid seasons on DVD. I need to watch more episodes. Such a great show...

No matter how many times I watch an episode, there's always something new, some little nuance I hadn't noticed the first time around. That's the mark of a good show.

HDNet was doing a season one marathon today. Even though I've got 'em all on DVD, I couldn't resist.

Having only seen a few episodes when first transmitted, this week I finally watched all three series. Loved it. Sure the third series seemed to fizzle out a bit, but it was still a great watch.
Favourite moments: Gob's (and the rest of the family's) inability to do a chicken impression Lucille's reaction everytime Gene Parmesan revealed his disguise The name "Bob Loblaw" Tobias leaping with umbrella in his English nanny disguise George-Michael's Charlie Brown walk of despair turning into a full body flop to the ground. |

Watching the current round of repeats on BBC2 has reminded me just how funny it is. I really think the end of series 3 soured my memories somewhat.
The writing, performances and direction are all an absolute joy, and the "next time on Arrested Development" gag never gets old. "That cow is going after me." "Your wife? She was super-thin" "She was?" "Yeah." "What about her cans? She had big cans?" "You don’t remember her at all, do you?" "Hey, it was one night of wild passion." "And yet you didn’t notice her body." "I like to look in the mirror." "Okay, that would be disgusting if you’d actually slept with her, but I don’t think you did." "I did. And it was disgusting." "They didn’t, but it would have been." "Anyway, remember that seal of hers that I released into the ocean? Bit off Buster’s hand?" "Vaguely." "Her lawyers are claiming that the seal’s worth 250 grand. And that’s not even including Buster’s Swatch." "Listen, if you admit in court that you never consummated the marriage, you could get it annulled and walk away free and clear." "You just can’t deal with the fact that I’ve got a super-thin wife with huge cans." I know that was a long quote, but I just love that punch-line. |

after 'juno', i re-watched season three, in about a week, and still think they did a fine job of wrapping things up, especially considering the constraints they were working with...

Lindsay trying to cop off with Michael, and G.O.B. copping off with Anne, are two of the most disturbing things I've ever seen in my life. Tobias being rejected by his hair plugs, also haunts me.
I think I had too weak a stomach for series 3, either that or cancellation made the writers go apeshit. |
