I went to see the exhibit, Spiritual Art of Salvador Dali. It was totally fabulous. I get such a high seeing any of Dali's original work. These were two different works. One was the Bible lithographs and the other was The Divine Comedy woodblocks. The gallery guy showed us a break-down of one of the woodblocks. The entire series used over 3000 woodblocks. And the details! I've never seen so much work put into one print.
I was supposed to go & see the Banksy exhibit too but I never got over there. Disappointed but Dali will keep me happy for a while now, so it's okay. |

Yesterday Graziano Cecchini dropped five hundred thousand brightly coloured plastic balls bounced down the Spanish Steps in Rome. Each one "represented a lie told by a politician".
![]() It may be equally weak in terms of artistic merit or social comment, but I'd be a hell of a lot more behind Banksy if his stunts were this fun. Cecchini's previous work of public art/vandalism in Rome. ![]() I likes him. |

I've just bought a painting (I hope!) by this artist. I've never bought art before. It's all a bit exciting.

Some disgustingly talented people use their Moleskines as they were intended.

Lovely.
Shame I can't draw, I've got a beautiful moleskine notebook sitting at home empty. ETA: I adore the one grinner in "Sargasso." This post has been edited by thirtyhelens: Apr 17 2008, 10:42 PM |

Recently having bought her faux-Catholic patron saint jar candle "Our Lady of the Coal" (i.e. Loretta Lynn... hee), I've been reminded of the kick-ass pop cult prowess of LA artist Vicki Berndt. She does a lot of stuff in the 70's doe-eyed Keane style as well as mixing religious imagery with rock 'n' roll and films, etc.
