I have a question. If the Transformers are essentially aliens, why do the change into human-designed vehicles. And secondly, why change into vehicles at all?
I know they were created to be cool toys to begin with, but have they ever given a reason for all this? This post has been edited by Jessopjessopjessop: Jun 29 2006, 12:01 PM |

I don't know why they transform, butb the reason they transform into human -designed things was (in the cartoon) because they were redesigned by the Autobot computery thingumajigger to blend in. If you watch the first episode you see them all on Cybertron being all alien hover-car-y

I never really watched any of teh classic series, what with me being too young and all, but I must say I'm becoming increasingly interested in this.

QUOTE (Jessopjessopjessop @ Jun 29 2006, 01:01 PM) I have a question. If the Transformers are essentially aliens, why do the change into human-designed vehicles. And secondly, why change into vehicles at all? I know they were created to be cool toys to begin with, but have they ever given a reason for all this? Ok. The reason that has always been given was that they transform to be able to "blend in" to various environs, and for defense/attack/whatever their primary function within their respective force is. The original Takara toys weren't sentient robots at all, but mech suits that turned into vehicles, when Hasbro bought the rights to those toys they asked the comic book writer Bob Budiansky to create profiles for the robots (Hasbro thought this would translate better) and to create a backstory for what would become the Autobot/Decepticon civil war. I guess robots that turn into cars and planes and whatever is just too cool an idea to ignore, really. |

That was quite good. Aren't the transformers supposed to be our friends though? Why did they 'warn' us?

QUOTE (Jumpin Jack Flash @ Jun 30 2006, 03:22 PM) That was quite good. Aren't the transformers supposed to be our friends though? Why did they 'warn' us? True, the 'Cons aren't very nice. Something about draining Earth of all it's resources, and subdjugating mankind as slave labour. The Autobots want to be mankind's friends, but let's face it, big-ass robots smacking seven shades of energon out of each other is going to create collateral damage. So most of mankind will see the Transformers as a threat, no matter which side they're on. |
