Blame VW. It's their company policy, after all.

How do I know this? Because I saw it here, that's how. |

I saw a teaser trailer for it at the Pirates opening night. As I realised what it was, I squealed 'Oh my god! It's the Transformers movie!' really loudly and everyone stared at me like the nerd I am.

I can't believe I'd never heard of this til last night...ashamed.
We were watching Jo Brand at our theatre and she read this bit out the paper talking about Beagle 2 being used in the trailer without consent. (Beagle 2 is a Milton Keynes thing, by the way). Here's the bit, if anyone's interested: 'Hollywood stole my beagle!' PROFESSOR Colin Pillinger admitted his shock this week after his lost Beagle 2 space probe turned up...in the trailer for the new Transformers movie! Transformers: The Movie – a big-budget Hollywood re-make of the classic 1984 cartoon series – is tipped to break box office records around the world on its release next July with Steven Spielberg as executive producer. And the Open University scientist behind the city's unsuccessful Beagle 2 mission was astonished to find that his doomed Mars probe will be a focal point of the movie's storyline – putting Milton Keynes on the map to millions of sci-fi fans around the globe. Prof Pillinger said: "I'm a bit surprised – I wasn't consulted about it at all! "People just kept emailing me the trailer this week and I thought 'what's all this?' "It's interesting people think the Beagle name is big enough to be used in a movie, because it shows we went around the world. "I just hope I'm invited to the premiere!" The movie's trailer says 'in 2003 the Beagle 2 Mars Rover was launched. We were told it crashed. Its final transmission was classified top secret – it was the only warning we would ever get.' It then shows a ficticious clip of the Beagle's final video footage on Mars, as a Transformer robot walks towards the probe and grabs it, ending the transmission. Prof Pillinger said: "I don't know if the movie makers are going to bring the Beagle back, but from the trailer one assumes some kind of Transformer is stealing my Beagle! "Apart from the trailer I've only ever seen Transformers in adverts. I don't know anything about them - I don't get time to go to the cinema!" Directed by Armageddon director Michael Bay, Transformers will feature live-action photography together with CGI to bring the 'robots in disguise' firmly into the 21st century. Sort of messed up her performance for me, starting off with that. Just kept thinking 'Wow. A Transformers film...' |

At least Pillinger's taking it well, and in the spirit he should be. If he'd been from NASA, the chances are he'd be suing by now.

Dont think anyone has posted this yet-
Prime's voice! QUOTE A vocal "greeting" by Optimus Prime himself announced that voice actor Peter Cullen, who played the character in the popular 1980s cartoon TV series, will voice Optimus Prime in next summer's big budget movie version. Yes, yes and yes. |

Watched the origional movie last night for the first itme in about 2 years. I know almost every word in the film and can sing all the songs perfectly. That's right, I'm just that cool. The voice acting is super cheese- "Why settle for a peek Daniel, when you can see everything from Lookout Mountain?" When the Dare music kicks in it makes my hair stand on end. I love that film. |
