BBC- Eurovision
So the UK entrant this year is Morrissey. Yes. Morrissey. That is providing he doesn't do a Creme Brulee and fail to get through the regional finals. When it comes to the time get voting dudes. Spread teh word. Barring a re-union of ABBA or U2 doing Irelands song I'd say this years Eurovision is in the bag. |

I just noticed this on the BBC page.
Whatever happens, if he does get selected, he'll be in the final because of the way the competition is financed. The UK pay a fair bit of cash, so we always get into the final. I'm quite excited. |

This rivals the Coogan/Love baby story for the most WTF-est moments of the decade.
Will it be possible for Moz to write a song with enough irony to save his street cred? |

If he's going to be doing Eurovision, he's going to have to come up with something a bit special.
A half arsed "My Lovely Horse" will not do. |

QUOTE (gulfcoast_highwayman @ Jan 9 2007, 01:02 PM) Sadly, methinks the lyrics won't be along similar lines to the likes of Crashing Bores' "lock-jawed popstars, thicker than pig shit, nothing to convey." Might be a tad obvious. Nevertheless, the prospects of Euromorrissey are tantalising indeed. Roll on May. This post has been edited by Ade: Jan 9 2007, 01:18 PM |

I like Eurovision, and not in an 'ironic' way. I don't think Morrissey gives a shit what people think about him. If he does it, he'll do it brilliantly, fuck street cred. |

Your knowledge of references to the Eurovision Song Contest in television comedy is indeed impressive. |

I reckon Moz will go the whole hog and come up with a genuine Eurovision pop song for the ages. He's admitted time and time again that he loves Eurovision and if he gets on it'll be just the chance he's been waiting for.
He might even get that number 1 that has been eluding him for so very long. |

If Moz goes for this and the British public don't choose him to represent us then I'm leaving this country for good.

I think the only obstacle he would face would be if David Attenborough also enters. Either way we'd shit 'em at the contest. I'm still waiting for Radiohead to enter Eurovision. Thom Yorke said on Jonathan Ross' show 4 years ago that they would and he has yet to come good on that promise. This post has been edited by maian: Jan 9 2007, 04:25 PM |

I don't believe this story. It seems too weird. Lovely but weird.
Next thing you know Arnie will be a powerful political figured in the US, Burt Reynolds will get a an Oscar nomination and Scary Spice will have Eddie Murphy's baby. Sefi x |

That'd be awesome too. --- We always tune into Eurovision being a European family. Though our country sucks big time. Like in the World Cup. Hmm. |

Apparently the latest news on this is that Moz will write the song but might not perform it. I hope this is just speculation since I really want to see him take on the freaks the rest of Europe send along every year.
