The only thing i can really recall from Simon's stand up was the "you know what they say about love and war" joke, which he obviously used later in Spaced. That joke (amongst others) particularly made me laugh and when i heard a little later that Simon Pegg was in a new sitcom "Spaced" i knew i wanted to watch it based on the quality of the stand-up i'd seen. That was about 8 years ago and i've loved Spaced ever since and i remember being chuffed that joke was in it. So, maybe if it wasn't for that joke, i would never have watched Spaced...weird eh??

QUOTE (Wife Of Rolex @ Feb 28 2007, 09:56 PM) I certainly remember seeing him for the second time on The Stand Show on BBC1 back in 1995. I distinctly remember saying, when he was introduced, 'Oh I saw him the other week on something else. He's good.' See, I knew that boy would come good. If only I'd had a video recorder at the time. Bah! Wife Of Rolex and heres some more info http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles...e_7775960.shtml |

QUOTE (HoneyRyder @ Mar 12 2007, 05:17 PM) Look at that for a bloody good memory! First series was early 1995. If only I knew what that other show I saw him on before was, I could pin-point the very moment I first laid eyes on the boy. Wife Of Rolex |

QUOTE (rebelstar @ Feb 27 2007, 04:44 PM) Did Pegg not do warmup for some of Steve Coogan's live shows? He's certainly credited with an appearance on the Live 'n' Lewd / The Man Who Thinks He's It DVD, but I've no idea if he's part of the supporting cast or doing his own stuff. Someone here will know... He's part of the supporting cast but he is in it a lot. There's also a lot of spoof 'backstage' footage and in-joke where Pegg delivers one of his "own" lines to Coogans Disdain. Also, as said in the commentry, Tims speech to Sarah in the first episode of Spaced ("you can't dangle the bogus carrot of reconciliation") was taken straight from his stand-up material. |

A couple of Simon's moments are cut from the Coogan DVD though, notably when he's on stage by himself as the floor manager and a bit in the middle of the Tony Ferrino segment. Frustrating as it looks like they've been cut because Steve Coogan didn't want to be seen being acted off the stage.
Probably not the case but still annoying for us Pegg fans. Wife Of Rolex |
