Well with the pulling of Sky from Virgin Media there seems to have been some toys chucked out of the pram.
What's right with it? What's wrong with it? Is having an ugly eyesore of a satellite, a telephone that tracks your viewing habits and dodgy sales folk from Glasgow calling you on your phone worth the 25 smackers a months? Is Virgin with it's new 20Mg download speeds, competitive pricing and shiney new Ad campaign any better? FIGHT! -m0r |

I'm just wondering. It's obviously going to frustrate those of us who pay for Virgin Media's TV package, and it's only just happened. I think we're entitled to a bit of a rant, regardless of what anyone thinks of the quality of the channels we're losing.
We're losing part of our service because two very large companies are squabbling over money and the customers have absolutely no say in the matter. Where's Lynn Faulds Wood when you need her? |

I'm only kidding Zoe.
I agree with you, it's a pure load of shite & honestly I'm considering putting two fingers up to both of them. I watch too much T.V. anyway. If their is something I really want to watch I'm sure it'll appear on the web in some form. The box is out. Onward to the future. This post has been edited by Rua: Mar 1 2007, 12:54 PM |

Virgin own Telewest now, don't they? Does this mean that people who have cable now have to pay for Sky if they want previously free channels as a result of this deal? If so, that is fucking shite.

QUOTE (Zoe @ Mar 1 2007, 12:47 PM) Would it annoy you if I wasn't annoyed? I'm happy to let contemporary culture pass me by when it comes to paying extra for it. I pay my TV license, taxes etc, work, notice the weather and seem to have no probs socialising, so I don't understand the context of having more context to socialise with. My friend Greg has Sky and all I see are adverts, repeats and stoopid shows about blowing up caravans or street magicians. Channel 4 on the other hand, has adverts and yet still seems to make provocative documentaries, pull over the best of US shows (which when proven popular get snapped up by Sky), make globally acclaimed films and have engaging shows that appeal to a large spectrum of people. The Beeb is probably the definitive website for news, resources and catching up with shows from the past week you might have missed. Five, well, it's getting there. And FtN has Tekeshees(sp?) Castle - nuff said. So pay alot of money to Sky for...pretty much not much more than what I can get anyway, which in turn lets them steal shows from those who don't sign up OR Go outside and have a fag. I know what I'm going to do, and I'm having a beer with it too! -m0r |

Being so philosophical about the situation, you can leave us petty complainers to it then.

Sefi x I read somewhere that actually Telewest bought Virgin Media, but are using Virgin's name and "muscle". It is quite shite. I usually get the big name shows from elsewhere but Sky One was pretty good to just switch over to and catch a classic Malcolm In The Middle/Buffy/Simpsons etc. The thing that pissed me off most was Sky's advertising campaign that made out Virgin were at fault and giving a number to call to complain to them. |

I used to work for Sky (telesales), believe me it's hires muppets.
It's just a big bolshy salesman of a company, it's the bully here, not Virgin. -m0r |
