I didn't care much for the last series, but what I have seen of the current run has been pretty good and a lot darker in tone too. For once they don't seem to care if they kill of a few main characters along the way.

Looks like Merlin may go past five series.
Not entirely surprising, given the strong ratings its been getting this series. The later time slot obviously helps, I wonder if Doctor Who will get a later one next year as well? |

Might do. They put Who on after it's big mainstream puller, Strictly Come Dancing at the final episode. I don't watch Strictly, but that, followed by Doctor Who, followed by Merlin, would be a good combo for BBC.
Good to hear Merlin might go further. I've been enjoying it more than before. I know there's a possible movie coming up too. |

I suspect it will be the same as last year with Merlin starting after the Who has aired (if Who starts on the 25th as believed and runs for five episodes, the timings fit for Merlin to then run up to Christmas again).

^ I'm beginning to doubt this now. The BBC are playing the trailer a lot at the moment and I can't see them doing that if the series is still 6-7 weeks away.
