Sos and Downsy caught a screening of HF in NYC the other day. I'll let them post their take on the trans-Atlantic reaction later.
 Overall they seemed to feel it was quite good.As much as I'd like to kick some coin into the coffers again this weekend.... I'm only in NYC for three more days, I need to see my peeps! |

Holy cow. I haven't been on this board in two years... when Shaun of the Dead came out. I'm still loyal though. And I just saw Hot Fuzz a second time today and brought 2 friends who still hadn't seen it yet. I built up high expectations for them, and they still said it blew them away.
Here's one thing that bothers me. Why do the US theaters not carry more Hot Fuzz? Last week Hot Fuzz had the highest gross per theater (meaning, divide amount of theaters it's playing by the amount of money made by tickets). That means people want to see the Fuzz, but don't have a lot of places to see it. Of the wide releases out right now, it's got the lowest theater release count. WHY??? Anyway, I am just hoping that word of mouth gets out and keeps this one in the theaters. I seriously walked out and said "I have not had that much fun in a movie theater in a loooong time." ... too bad Spiderman 3 comes out and will destroy everyone this weekend... any coincidence that one of the characters is walking around in Spiderman facepaint during the "Save the Church roof" scene? |

After HF did so well on the first weekend they were able to expand it by the second weekend which was great. But I guess they can't get everywhere.
The US is a huge market and they don't have a huge budget. Maybe next time they will......

On the recent SONY II trip I saw both Hot Fuzz (again) and Grindhouse. Proof below.
