I guess, but that's a BIG industry change.
If you buy a movie on iTunes, it costs the same price as buying the DVD. So why should comics be any different? I know exactly where you're coming from, but it's a standard across all media. Comics, Xbox games, Steam, iTunes shows/movies/albums, eBooks... This post has been edited by GundamGuy_UK: Nov 6 2011, 12:47 AM |

It shouldn't though; publishers attitudes on game prices seen to be shifting too. The digital copies of Vita games are cheaper than physical copies, which they should be.
It should be like that with everything. |

I think they might price themselves out of the market if they did that.
Trade paperbacks will always have a strong physical market, but digital copies of comic issues are far better than physical. They take up less room, they're far easier to organise, and I don't know about you but it's really hard to get comics where I live. If they were cheaper too, then nobody but serious collectors would ever buy them. Comics don't follow the same model as books, I don't think (TPBs do, though). Comics are more like magazines. DC Comics does charge 99p for their comics, except for the ones currently in print which cost retail price. I think that's fair enough. |

So all the New 52 stuff is £1.99-£2.50, but almost everything else is 99p. I think some of the more famous stories that are in TPB form cost a bit more.

I got more Walking Dead for Christmas. I now have all the TPB from 1-13. I'm sure there are more.
I've also re read a lot of my 100 Bullets and Fables lately. I'd forgotten how much I loved both series. I really need to catch up with Fables and re purchase the TPBs of 100 Bullets I've managed to lose. |

My parents bought me The Walking Dead 1-48 in one massive book, and I spent some of my money on Batman: Death in the Family, Batman: Gothic, and Batman: The Man Who Laughs.

I see no point in this. A good third or so of Watchmen is composed of flashbacks anyway. I never felt like I was missing much.

I want to recommend you find and read Superman: At Earth's End. It is the single worst comic I have ever read in my life and manages to showcase absolutely everything that was wrong with comics in the 90s. This is a comic where a bearded hobo-Santa-Superman avenges the death of Batman in a post-apocalyptic wasteland with the help of a group of biker toddlers by killing twin cloned Hitlers with a giant multi-barrelled gun before denouncing the evils of guns and killing himself by walking into a fire.
I seriously wish I was making this up. That is the genuine synopsis of an actual comic that was actually published. |

The Walking Dead Compendium 2 has appeared for pre-order on Amazon, with a release date of December 4th if anyone else is buying the series in the massive volumes like I am.
It'll cover issues 49-96. Depending on how long the series runs for, it'll be a long wait for Compendium 3... I might just buy the TPBs after that, as luckily Volume 17 starts at issue 97. This post has been edited by GundamGuy_UK: Jun 30 2012, 09:55 PM |
