Finally got around to watching 'Silence In The Library' and, as expected, it's far and away the best of the series so far. Moffat once again proves how good he is at writing clever, scary science fiction stories that are also huge fun to watch. I loved the 'ghosting' moments and thought that they encapsulated what's best about Moffat's writing on the show; a great sci-fi idea that can be used to devastating emotional effect. I also liked the idea of the little girl being involved somehow (Moffat does like stories where The Doctor appears on TV screens, doesn't he?)
Alex Kingston was particularly good, especially since I was initially dubious about her character and the way she seemed to be over-egging things, which I guess was the point since she seemed so sure that The Doctor knew who she was.. As an individual episode, I don't think it's as strong as Blink or The Girl In The Fireplace but I can't wait to see how the second episode plays out. The Big Questions videos from each episode on the BBC site are quite humourous

I reckon.. (Spoiler tagged for the benefit of those that haven't seen...)
She will be a recurring character. She may have died then got saved inside the hard drive with the other archeologists, but she was about in the doctor's personal future. I reckon she is his future wife/partner. I also love the idea that he sort of had a back up plan for her death, so she can live on in another reality. I also liked how Lux was shown to be a decent character in the end. And anita was good too. |

Extraodinary. outstanding, amazing!
Moffat knew exactly what all SF fans would have guessed from the last episode, and then proceeded to confirm and utterly subvert our expectations. Genius. I nearly cried twice, got goose bumps an equal time, and then actually cried (at Liam and Donna's final moment together as husband and wife). Just brilliant. There is no reason why every episode shouldn't be this standard. Roll on 2010. P.S. No need to spoiler purely speculative theories based on already aired episodes. P.P.S. "Who is the Doctor?", tee hee P.P.P.S. Who else guessed she whispered his name? P.P.P.S. Let's hope they don't stick with the finger clicking. So naff. Who does he think he is, the Fonz? |

Moffat is such a cunt having Liam reappear like that only to have his stutter prevent him from calling out to her.
Boo hoo. I think she had it worse than the doctor. At least he gets to see his perfect partner again. |

Do you reckon she might have known his real name because he'll have had to reveal it at his wedding?
And I'd like to echo the praise given above, it was excellent. The imagination of Moffat is frightening. The concept and realisation of the 'Doctor Moon' was inspired. |

I believe Saturday's Guardian summed it up best when they said, "it's like Phillip K Dick wrote an episode of Doctor Who".
It was after reading that I started skipping round work with anticipation. As it turned out, he completely exceeded my expectations. I have no idea how he comes up with this stuff, or how he manages to play with audience expectations so deftly. He must have read a lot of SF as a child, no one is this good without knowing the genre. He makes me happy. |

She said she'd look for him, but it's sad she decided he was a part of her imagination and therefore won't look for him Also.. that scene between doctor and river towards the end.. "Why have you got handcuffs?!" And the way she answers "Spoilers" with that grin.. Doctor gets a bit kinky in his old age? maybe, ha. |
