Surely you can't be serious!...

I am saddened by this news. I was never a huge fan, but I was brought up on Airplane! and the Police Squad series.
I've been re-watching the Naked Gun series showing on TV recently.
To quote James White from Empire online, The world just got a little less funny.

Sad news.

Hadn't watched anything of his in ages, but I was absolutely loved Airplane and the first two Naked Gun films as a kid. Still do really.

Funny, funny man. He'll be sadly missed.

What can one say?

It truly is like losing a slightly estranged funny Uncle.

I first heard this from my mum earlier. Well sort of. What she actually said was, 'That Dennis Nielson's died.'

I can't help think there's something strangely apt about her mix up.

Absolutely. Very sad indeed.

There was a time when I was about 12 that Leslie Nielsen was my favourite actor. I saw a lot of terrible, unfunny movies because I loved him so much as Frank Drebin, and that affection has never disappeared. Sad to see such an icon of my childhood go, but he seemed like someone who always had a great time, no matter what he was in, and that's a pretty good way to live your life.
