Restrepo was a great film and he seemed like a compassionate person more than willing to put his life in danger to tell people about the world. Very sad.

In other awful news, TV On The Radio bassist Gerard Smith. Only 34.

Tim did a lecture at Kings Place as part of our Words on Monday series, and was a friend of a very good friend of mine.

Extremely sad, he did amazing work.

Very sad to hear that Chris Hondros has died of his injuries as well. His last photographs were some of his most affecting work.

These last few days have been awful for this sort of news. All quite talented, all (even Sladen at 63) too young to go.

I was really shocked. I heard he was a great bloke. Such a loss. Same for Chris Hondras and Gerard Smith.

Now John Sullivan's gone and died.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13176198

In his prime (i.e. the 80's) 'Only Fools & Horses', 'Dear John' & 'Just Good Friends' were all fantastic sitcoms. Even though some of his work had got more than little tired recently ('Green Green Grass', anyone?), he could still turn in a decent script, as 'Rock & Chips' proved.

RIP.

Just saw this.

I don't care what anybody says, the Grandad era of Only Fools & Horses was great.

Oh, indeed. To this day, me and my mates refer to anyone called 'Potter' as 'Harry Belafonte'.

Very sad news, and unfortunately overshadowed. One of Britains first international sports stars.
