Judging by the fact that Hasbro had already released most of the toys, and then pulled them off the shelves a couple of days ago, this was a very last-minute decision and probably down to someone at Paramount saying "I know how we can make more money - charging more for people to go see it!"

Or it's shit and they are desperately trying to polish a turd.

By adding 3D? Talk about self-defeating.

Pretty looking films that have crap stories can still be sold to an undemanding audience.

See: Avatar, Transformers, Clash of the Titans etc

I'm not one to go by what critics say about films, but it doesn't look as though Prometheus is getting universal love.

I guess the longer a film is, the more you're getting for your money.
If you're paying a tenner to see a film, it might as well be a long one.

It's only about ten minutes longer than The Dark Knight was.

This is something I noticed as dvds became more popular and I'm guessing that's the reasoning behind it. I don't have a problem with long films, a film should be as long as it should be, this last week I've watched four films that were 150+ mins, a 180 min film and a 220 min film. But a Batman film really doesn't have to be more than 2 hours.

It reminds me of Cable Hogue - in a good way. I like the look and the soundtrack is already intriguing.
