I liked the book, and hated the trailer.

QUOTE (Atara @ Jul 19 2008, 06:47 PM) I think it looks better than most comic book movies that have come along in recent years and I look forward to seeing how it turns out, Same here. I have no real expectations. They market the trailer to grab in people who have no prior awareness to the comic. I have limited knowledge of it and I would be interested in seeing the film from the trailer. If this makes me somewhat unworthy, so be it. I don't care - I'm not a big comic fan and never have been. But I can see why this would be a disappointment if you were. And of course, the comic (like a novel) is a different entity. I don't expect them to be the same. I'm not sure if this is aimed at me, but just in case, I'm not saying that people who are drawn in by the trailer who aren't aware of the comic are unworthy in any way, just that I didn't think that it showed enough to entice that audience or did enough to sell it as anything other than just another comic book adaptation, which it shouldn't be since the source material is really very good. I'm quite happy that, based on what I have heard now, having shown it to a few people who are unfamiliar with the comic, that I couldn't have been more wrong about it. |

Max Payne Teaser Trailer
Could be good, could be shit. Hard to tell really although I'm prepared to give it a chance. |

I'm betting on the latter, and it's a damn shame, too.

I'm pinning my hopes on the fact that the story has been written by The Shield creator/writer Shawn Ryan.
Not getting my hopes up too high though. |

QUOTE (Sir_Robin_the_brave @ Jul 20 2008, 06:11 PM) Didn't even know they were making a movie of this. The game is one of my favourites of all time so I hope they do it justice. It's got a really good plot so if they follow that they should be able to make it a great film. Wahlberg knows what he's doing action-wise, though 'm not sure if he's the correct choice. I see Max as more of a Sean Penn: intense, sombre and vengeful. But hey, at least Uwe Boll isn't directing it. |

QUOTE (thirtyhelens @ Jul 21 2008, 08:12 AM) Heh. Interesting, because I believe Phoenix was under consideration when Paul Greengrass was attached. Not for Dr. Manhattan, though, Nite Owl I think. Also, when he's flamethrowing the Viet Cong, doesn't Jeffrey Dean Morgan look a bit like Robert Downey Jr. if he'd been dropped into the cauldron of magic potion as a baby rather than a pile of blow?
