I must admit, I hadn't thought back as far as the Likely Lads, or even as far back as Til' Death Us Do Part, I was thinking of more recent updates such as This Life +10, To The Manor Born and Blackadder: Back and Forth (I'm sure there have been others as well, but for the life of me I can't think of them at the moment).

I suspect my own thoughts on this are being more coloured by film franchise than TV programs however.

What about their plan to pan out the story of Tim & Daisy getting together?
What about the fact that Simon & Jess have already written the first scene of what was going to be series 3?
What if they all said it was actually going ahead (they've all said it'd be nice to go back to Spaced eventually), that they'd spent a couple of months writing already & they were more than happy with the way it was going?... Would you then still not want them to make it?

I don't think anyone has said that, people are simply stating their reservations about going back to the well once to often.

That's pretty much how I feel. It's not that I wouldn't be interested in them doing more or that I wouldn't be excited about the possibility, just that my personal preference would be for the creative team to go on creating new things, rather than revisiting something that, if not exhausted, was certainly played out to a fine conclusion.

I guess what it come down to with me, is that in my head it was never concluded.
I was sure there would be a 3rd series back when 2 finished in 2001, & I'm still waiting for it. There's a big unfinished story arc between Tim and Daisy.

Yeah, the end of series 2 wraps it up nicely. ... but then so did the end of series one.
Less than 2 years apart & series 2 is very different. The characters are a lot cooler and through the course of the series, become successful. Plus there are more surrealist/unbelievable moments in series 2. If more Spaced were to happen, then it would not be the same as the old shows, & that'd be a good thing. The characters will have grown, matured a bit, changed jobs etc... (still in meteor street though, as Tim predicts at the start of ep2.1) but it would still be the same style. It would still be Spaced.

I'm the opposite of this really. - If they never make any more Spaced, then that wouldn't be so bad, because what we've got is excellent. But my personal preference would be to see some more, especially as the guys behind it have always said they see it as a 3 series max comedy... & I totally agree. ...and I wouldn't see it as the creators revisiting or going back to spaced, but more like them continuing/concluding it.

Ok, that's all I'm going to say on the subject.

I think I may be the only person who doesn't actually want to see Tim and Daisy get together. Yea, we can all imagine what would have inevitably happened between them in the end and yes, it would have been great but, in my mind, Spaced (and it's conclusion) was special and unique because it was about friendship and how much more important that was than them getting off with each other. To me that's something that no show I can recall has ever done. It was a very brave way to leave that relationship and, I think, the right one.

I'm not sure how I'd feel about that happening. On the one hand I hated the fact that Maggie and Joel never ended up together in Northern Exposure. But in Buffy I didn't mind Willow going from Oz to Xander and then to Tara. But then there was the whole girl-on-girl thing to sweeten the deal.

(I use these examples because they are the other two greatest TV shows ever)

This was expounded by the fact that after Joel split, they tried to hook Maggie up with Chris, which despite their both being hot and available, seemed borderline incestuous and completely weird. Ew.


ETA: I see both sides of the argument. That said, the enthusiasm w/ which the Pegg described one scene he has written in his head in particular made me think it's not exactly the worst idea in the world...

I'm a little late in replying to this, and I'm sure at least one person has said the same (I didn't read the whole thread rather then skim through it).

If anyone can make it work - Pegg, Hynes and Wright certainly can. As for the Star Wars reference. I think Simon's the most vocal celeb about Ep 1 being crap so I highly doubt they'd put anything out unless it was gold.

Anyway, everything else that's everyone's doing, I'm sure we're talking at least a few years before a movie could be made anyway right?

But didn't the little bit at the end of the bonus disc on the boxset wrap up Tim and Daisy's little love arc?
