Downloaded Driver from the PSN today. It has actually aged considerably well.....well the driving physics have, it looks ghetto as most PS1 games do now, but it is still really fun throwing the big muscle cars about.

Downloaded some additional Rock Band tracks today. I'm looking forward to taking that Dream Theater tune for a spin.
Additionally, I think it's safe to say that Boston's "Foreplay/Long Time" has met its match in Rush's "Working Man," as far as songs go that have interminably long instrumental breaks that keep the singer on the sidelines. Those are good tunes for a trio, but a quartet, nay. |

Had a quick go on Bioshock the other day.
Is the whole game just System Shock 2 underwater instead of in space, or does a brief play just give that impression? More an FPS with RPG elements than an RPG with FPS elements, but the whole thing really felt similar. Which is no bad thing, of course. No, the whole thing is basically a shinier version of System Shock 2 but set underwater and with ADHD. |

It's a shame System Shock 2 doesn't work on Vista. That game scared me so much when it came out that I never finished it.

I heard that there's a Vista fix for it knocking about the interwebs somewhere, but I'm too lazy to hunt it up.

Doom 3 bored the hell out of me.
But System Shock 2 freaked me out, especially those psychic monkeys... On another note, I finally finished the bonus tracks in the Rock Band solo tour, on Medium, so I've moved onto Hard now. And Hard actually seems easier. I'm just beginning the fourth tier of songs, and so far I've gotten five stars and near-100% completion on every tune thus far. Maybe it's because the note patterns on Hard more closely mirror the actual songs, rhythmically. This post has been edited by Omniscia: Aug 16 2008, 03:43 AM |

QUOTE (Omniscia @ Aug 16 2008, 12:46 AM) Thanks. Next goal is to beat Through the Fire and Flames. Can only manage to get 76% on practice mode. I can't get past the intro. Also completed Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2. Fun games. The first one was hard, but the second was pathetically easy. The final boss in DMC2 consisted of me shooting at it while standing still. DMC3 seems to be on the difficulty level of the first game though. Can't wait to get the 4th one. |

This might sound stupid, but try it with the hyperspeed (about level 2 or 3) cheat turned on. I actually found it slightly easier with the notes more spread out. Oh and there's 3 more dragonforce songs coming out next week so that should keep you going As for Rock Band, I completed that on expert in less than 2 evenings. Unless you get some of the download tracks it's barely a challenge at all. Only 3 songs on the entire solo career took me more than one attempt to complete, and even those three I completed on the second go. At least drums are hard. But I do imagine a real drummer would find it piss easy, because it's far more similar to the real thing than the guitar part of the game. Very few of the songs are bands with decent drummers, pretty much Iron Maiden, The Who, Rush are the only decent drummers in the solo career. However, it's a different story if you get the DLC packs, Machine Head, Devildriver, Dream Theater, At The Gates etc. This post has been edited by Nonus Aequilibrium: Aug 16 2008, 11:22 AM |

Not really, in fact from folks I know who drum they found the opposite. My brothers old drummer Daz, who is bloody amazing, found it really hard to get used to because the set up is so utterly different to how any drum kit is arranged. So it took a long time for him to adjust to how Rock Band requires you to play.
