What is the deal with all the sex noises in this game? I am finding it quite distracting the amount of breathing and grunting sounds the characters make though, I find myself listening to that more than the dialogue at times No idea... |

Is it like Gears of War, where you can't even leap an ankle-high bit of concrete without going "NNNNNNRRRRGGGG!"?

I'm rather enjoying FF XIII so far. I'd say it reminds me most of X, couldn't really tell you why, aside from the obvious stylistic and levelling similarities. I'm even liking the new battle mode, and it's easy to see why they restricted player control to just one character in battle at a time, as otherwise you'd find yourself completely overwhelmed in a matter of seconds. As it stands I was starting to find it a tad easy, then I ran across Odin. And died. Thought I'd try it again, and died. Again. Then I made the fatal mistake of blinking during the fight. So I died. Eventually managed it though. Also, is it just me, or are there about ten times as many save points as in any other Final Fantasy game? It seems like you can't walk 10 yards without running into one.

Also, is it just me, or are there about ten times as many save points as in any other Final Fantasy game? It's not just you, the place is littered with them. I suppose it's incase you need to upgrade weapons if you find yourself getting too badly pwned in one section... or something. |

It'll be down to the fact that you can save anywhere in most modern games. When you're dealing with a game like FF, chocked full of cut scenes, a lack of save opportunities would grate pretty quickly if you needed to go out, eat dinner, or whatever.
I'm not far into it but damn it holds your hand for far too long. I got about four hours of gameplay down yesterday and during that time I learned how to attack and use items. And that's it. I don't mind pacing, but limiting options so heavily right at the start is just boring. I've done nothing but hammer A and five star every fight so far, though if what you say is right Kei I suppose that will come to an end eventually. It does, if you tried that at the point I'm at now you'd be dead in about 30 seconds. Especially in the Eidolon fights.

Back here in 2008, I've just bought Bishock and Operation: Anchorage/The Pitt
Working my way through the Fallout 3 DLC at the moment. It's pretty good altough there have a few glitches in it which I've not had with the other stuff for FO3. There seems to have been an effort to add a little more strategy to Anchorage (picking your team, so far) not sure how it will work out, but I'm looking forward to seeing! |

Well, it *might* work, but you never know with laptops.
Bioshock will work according to just reading the requirements, but I got the demo and it had about a 4fps framerate. |

Yeah that's the sucky thing about most laptops is they tend to have special graphics cards that games aren't built to really run properly on. Even if you go to the websites that will physically check your machine they sometimes say it'll run fine when it really won't...
Downloading Heavy Rain DLC. I'd forgotten all about it. Also get the soundtrack and a dynamic theme as part of the collectors edition. Shame I'd already bought the theme from the PSN beforehand I've gotten nearly every ending a lot of the trophies now. Could probably platinum it in a few hours. Look forward to seeing some new shit. |

I'm going to give it a download. Unless they've been clever and made it so you can't progress without the pokewalker...
Can you battle online now? I have a vague recollection you can. Which one are you planning on getting? Super Street Fighter 4 is looking good as well.... This post has been edited by monkeyman: Mar 14 2010, 09:36 AM |

I had Gold way back when*, so I'm getting HeartGold. Chelsea is getting SoulSilver. You can battle online, but it's ropey at best and I've never actually got it to work.
*I say "way back when", but I still own it in the box, all in mint condition. I imported it from America and got it months before all my friends, and had long finished it before a lot of them even knew it existed. Come to think of it, that was the first really geeky (as opposed to just normal kid stuff) thing I ever did. |
