The only way I could be less excited about dead Island is if it was actually Duke Nukem Forever. Wow. A survival horror game with zombies in you say? Wow, it's not like both of those things have been relentlessly played out until all of the novelty and originality has been sucked dry and zombies are now the Big Mac of go-to horror clichés for every single lazy writer and game designer out there is it!

Yeah but First Person Sandbox is a relatively fresh take on the genre.

Well I'm looking forward to it. To be fair there hasn't really ever been a first person Zombie game other than Left 4 Dead, which is a tad different due to being an online only experience really.

Also... Dead Island trailer in Minecraft...

Agreed. At this rate when the Zombie Apocalypse finally happens on Earth we'll all just die of boredom.

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 has committed the cardinal sin of modern gaming.

Alas it has and Capcom are utter buggers for doing it again. Full sodding characters this time too! Thankfully that hasn't stopped the game itself from being excellent. The new control system and ease of air combos this time around really make a big difference and the cool little fan service touches have gotten some laughs from me. Noting that when the Sentinels take over the world they still go to the trouble of beating the crap out of Dan certainly hit the spot for me.

I've got a housemate who seems to think that Duke Nukem will be some sort of staggering masterwork. I agree with you, not overly fussed about either, at least until something unique in terms of gameplay crops up in a press release.

Currently downloading the Dragon Age 2 demo on my 360. I'm a tad concerned for the state of the combat system after seeing a video that looked a lot like a Fable-esque hack and slasher so hopefully it'll show my concern to be nothing. It also gives you a free item when you start the main game if you finish it according to what I've read, which is nice.

Sorry for the double post, but I finished the Dragon Age 2 demo and have done a little blog post for it over here if anyone's interested.

I was pretty impressed. I liked the first one but did get a bit fed up with Press A. Wait. Character attacks.
This feels more fluid.

Just one thing about your blog.
It's Hawke. Not Hawk. biggrin.gif

I'm still unsure about the having to press A malarkey. It doesn't really do anything other than keep me focused on the screen a tiny bit more, I was kind of missing the opportunity to grab a swig of drink while I was playing from time to time. A minor gripe though.
And cheers for the heads up on the Hawke mis-spelling, it's a thing of the past now.

Here's a nice opinion piece that sums up what can actually be taken from that Dead Island trailer and why a decent trailer doesn't inform a decent game.
