Thought this might be fun.......
Apparently this was UK No. 1 when I entered the world ![]() According to Wikepedia it was: QUOTE "Cinderella Rockefella" was a novelty single written by Mason Williams and Nancy Ames, and most famously released by the Israeli duo group Esther and Abi Ofarim, a married couple, in 1968. The song features rather yodelling, somewhat 1920s style lyrics and music. According to Radio Caroline DJ Andy Archer, the song was the last to be played on Radio Caroline South on the night of March 2-3 1968, before its radio ship (like that of its sister station Radio Caroline North) was towed into harbour over unpaid debts on the morning of March 3. I have no idea what it sounds like though. It features yodelling.......... This post has been edited by Bloomeeney: Jul 30 2008, 08:09 AM |

It's a kitsch classic and I can almost guarantee when you hear it you'll recongnise it.
See if it's on YouTube. |

On my birth day it was:
UB40, guest vocals by Chrissie Hynde - "I Got You Babe" This may explain my mum's great love of UB40. |

Just looked it up on the web and apparently it was:
"Ernie, The Fastest Milkman In The West" by Benny Hill. My life is now complete! |

For me, it was Maria McKee - Show Me Heaven. I'm glad, as I really like that song.
In the US, it was George Michael - Praying For Time. I don't know if I've heard that one so I won't comment. |

QUOTE (PrincessKate @ Jul 30 2008, 10:38 AM) Aye, the shame of it all... Apparently number 1 in the U.S. was ''Glory of Love'' Peter Cetera (no fucking clue on that one). Bah, a few weeks either way and it could have been Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel or Papa Don't Preach. |
