Well, it's that time of year again.
What have been your top 10 films of the year? What have been your worst disappointments? What are you looking forward to in the forthcoming year? Are you waiting until December 31st to contribute to this thread? Share with us and argue. |

Daniel Day Lewis There Will Be Blood? Philip Seymour Hoffman Charlie Wilson's War? Robert Downey Jr in Tropic Thunder? The whole cast of In Bruges? Ledger's Joker is good to watch, but no more than an amalgam of previous Jokers in a good outfit, unwashed hair and croaky voice acting as a conduit for some good lines. As I said after I saw the film, almost any decent actor given the material could have pulled off that performance. I actually found the performances of Eckhart, Caine & Oldman far more interesting I may well have stated so before, but I was really kind of overwhelmed by The Dark Knight to be perfectly honest. It was awesome, and I enjoyed it, but it really left me a little numbed, and so many of this year's other films I actually enjoyed a damn sight more. Either that or I wasn't really in the mood for Batman capers at the time - I might ultimately appreciate it on the small screen far more than I did at the cinema. |
