There's two statements I don't agree with. ...The first is a matter of opinion, the 2nd is simply not true. Oops. My time line stuff is way off. I meant anything that included Vince clarke..but they did veer widly from good to bad and back again.. good: Violator bad: Exciter.. Sacrilege! Music For The Masses is one of the best albums ever. {doff's hat = lopks sheepish} - music for the masses...classic..sorry I;ll never let you down again (see what I did there). Any will ne seeing them twice this year btw.. |

I somehow missed this thread, but Sostie has set the world right again.
Congrats on seeing DM twice this year; I haven't seen them since 1990. I'm doing a sad face now. |

What kept you? I was offline? It's not as if I have an Anti Mode Alarm System. I somehow missed this thread, but Sostie has set the world right again. Congrats on seeing DM twice this year; I haven't seen them since 1990. I'm doing a sad face now. Unlikely I'll see them this year. Shame. Still one of the (consistently) best live bands I've seen. |

Unlikely I'll see them this year. Shame. Still one of the (consistently) best live bands I've seen. Well I saw them 3 years ago whilst they were "touring" the angel. I was dragged along by my wife, she's a massive fan. I was indifferent but was blown away, seen a lot of bands live but I was buzzing for days after. Absolutely brilliant. So we managed to get standing tickets at the O2 in May, then tickets in Manchester in December to see them "Touring" the Universe!! Should be good, can I promise a review?? |

I'm looking forward to the new DM album too. I hope it's a little stronger than Playing The Angel which I thought was a little weak personally. I love pretty much everything from Black Celebration onwards and Songs of Faith and Devotion is (in my book at least) one of the finest albums ever produced.
And as already stated by others, they are simply the best live act I have ever seen.... and I've seen a lot of bands. |

SOTU?
Officiallly thumbs up..starts strongly, dips a little towards the middle, wobbles a little then finishes on a cracker. All in All..better than playing the Angel. Needs a few more listens, some possible classics on their. Jury still out on where it will fit in the good/bad albums... |

I still need to give it a decent listen. First listen I was reading at the same time on the train.

Every DM album I've heard since 'Violator' has sounded a bit 'meh' to me. 'Playing The Angel' was meant to be some return to form but I couldn't see it myself - don't think I'll bother making a purchase this time.
