Sherlock, The Moffat and Gatiss Remake Options

I didn't think it was as tight as the first episode either, but it was still good.

New game to play whilst watching; which episode of Doctor Who did the current location appear in? (There were at least three different locations that have previously been used in New Who last night!).

The interior of the Gallery is the same place they filmed The Van Gogh episode of new who. At least the staircase bit. I only know that because I seem to remember the Doctor mimicing the statue's pose. My brain possibly made that up though.

Plus I read a while back (when Pandorica Opens/Big Bang aired) that they filmed the Big Bang at the same time as some Sherlock stuff, in different parts of the building.

Other locations? I have no idea.

As for last night's episode, I did enjoy it, but not as much as Study in Pink. Was odd that Watson kept realising things before Sherlock. Ol' Sherlock wasn't as sharp this week. Amusing though.

I'm pretty certain that:

- The museum room where the tea ceremony took place was used way back in series one in The End of the World.
- The museum vault the Asian girl was storing the tea pots in was used to house the Project Indigo backpack Martha used in The Stolen Earth* and
- One of the museum/library shots later in the story was shot in the library they used in Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead.

I'd missed your suggestion, so that's four now!

*I'm sure this was just a trick of the light, but it looked like there was a Dalek prop in the background of this shot as well (I'm pretty sure that's just my brain making things up though!).

Ah, I did wonder where I had seen the big file/locker things with the revolving handles. That answers it!

I very much doubt it is, they would have to take a Dalek prop to site etc and that seems like a lot of work for something so trivial, but it did make me do a double-take.

Neither plot has been great to be honest, but then neither were all of ACD's (including The Adventure of the Dancing Men). The joy is the character, and he really is a joy.

Cumberbatch just goes from strength to strength. Using his masculine whiles on the pathologist was absolutely the highlight of this week's episode - and utterly believable! I'd let him look at my corpses' feet. Or something.

Didn't Holmes pretty much invent the whole 'sinister orientals' thing? I really was expecting an oblique reference to it, possibly coming from a racist cabbie.

I liked how he was all smiles complimenting her and the minute she turned away his face dropped. Lovely little moment.

Will Watson murder someone in every episode I wonder? Well, Hayleigh said it.

That was a real highlight for me. I like the idea that they can keep Holmes asexual without having him be completely unaware that he is attractive and can manipulate people that way. It's more interesting than making him completely ambivalent or oblivious.
I liked this week's episode a lot but not as much as last week. I think it's mainly because the shown lent more on the procedural side of things this week whereas A Study in Pink was largely about introducing the characters and watching them spark off of each other. I still really enjoyed it, but I hope that episode three has more room for the characters to spend time with each other, rather than being too focused on the mystery itself.

I'd second that recommendation. It's really terrific and he's thoroughly charming in it.

Thoroughly good telly. Have just sat and watched both episodes so far back to back. Funny, clever and just great.

Huge amounts to be said for Martin Freeman as well though, who is an excellent foil. There's still some Tim in him, which is no bad thing at all.

Really enjoyed this episode, I agree that it wasn't as tight as A Study In Pink, but dreadfully good fun nonetheless.
