I thought that was a solid, but not outstanding, episode. Some bits were definitely stronger than others. For once I felt that Britta and Jeff got the weaker storylines (although nowhere near as much as Annie who basically turned into a single-note female caricature for the episode) while the stuff with Abed and Troy was good, but really this episode was all about Shirley. Which I think is a good thing, as she'd been increasingly sidelined and turned into a slightly annoying "Ooh, aren't Christians preachy?" stereotype.
Although having said that, the gag at the start with Pierce's racist security camera was solid gold, as was Britta's line about being "from a long line of mothers and wives!". Also- disappointing lack of Chang. |

I loved Britta's description of an analogy as a thought wearing another thought's hat. That's kind of amazing.
I really liked the episode, but felt that it was really low-key, especially considering its status as the return of Community. That's by no means a bad thing, but it would have been nice if they had come out all guns blazing. Then again, the more subdued nature fit the meta-commentary of having Troy and Abed try to be normal so as not to ruin everything. That they ultimately couldn't contain their weirdness suggests that the show is going to follow suit and head to some freaky places. This post has been edited by maian: Mar 17 2012, 12:53 AM |

It was a fun episode, but definitely a low-key way to bring back the show. Normal Troy & Abed was actually slightly disturbing! |
