Yay!
Reckon they'll get Tom Hollander back as 'The Fucker' too? (Or was it 'The Bastard'? I forget). << Ha, just realised my avatar too. Apt. This post has been edited by Everlong: Mar 24 2011, 06:33 PM |

I reckon his film schedule, not to mention Rev, might keep him too busy to be a regular, but I could see him being a guest star. I don't actually like 'The Fucker'. It's a single joke and would get very annoying after a while. Stew-pot is much better.

Goodly.
Although Veep is coming out soon and looks really good. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is Arrested Development level of excellent. |

Plus the pilot of Veep was directed by Chris Morris. They're hoarding all the best people.

I've only seen the one trailer, but Veep looks like a TV continuation of In The Loop, style wise. Nice. Didn't know Morris directed it!

They seem to be treating it as basically the US version of The Thick of It. I think it's evolved out of the abortive remake that was done a few years ago (which was directed by Christopher Guest and starred Oliver Platt in the Tucker role) which Iannucci hated. Rather than just do a straight remake, they've basically created a sister show to The Thick of It.

Episode 1 of Veep was pretty good. it didn't round out the cast as well as the first episode of The Thick of It did; Anna Chlumsky and Matt Walsh's characters aren't as clearly defined as Glen and Ollie, yet, but since the focus was primarily on establishing Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character it worked as an introduction to every other character, who will hopefully be more involved as the show goes on. Iannucci has apparently said that they avoided having an equivalent to Malcolm because it wouldn't make sense in the context of Washington, and the show doesn't seem to have suffered from the lack of that chaotic force. Maybe it will become more of a problem as the show goes on, but the ease with which the ensemble gel with each other and the strength of the writing suggest good things.
