Mars Volta last weekend. I forgot my ticket and had to go back home for it, but still caught an hour and twenty minutes of their two hour set. They were unbelievably good musicians and really worth the stress!

No fucking way! I'd love to see Mars Volta! But they never come to my area.
And on top of that, the Ozric Tentacles are playing a club only 15 minutes from my house in a few days, but I'm stuck here. |

They were great in Birmingham too.
Also saw Mercury Rev last Friday who were absolutely wonderful. They arn't a band i'd think would be good live but that's the second time i've seen them and the second time i've been really moved. At the end of the gig i felt stoned it was so relaxing. It was obvious the band were really enjoying themselves and i think the crowd sensed it and fed off it. |

I recently went to see Embrace at Brixton, who were wick-ard, even though they didn't play Fireworks
Next gig Kasabian at the shitty Alexandra Palace. |

I saw the Raveonettes, supported by Dogs and Boxer Rebellion last night.
The lead singer from Dogs is a big, ugly, lanky streak of piss who spent the entirety of the Raveonette's set giving a wee young girl a good mouth-polish with his tongue. She was clearly not a day over sixteen and I had to physically stop my boyfriend from shouting "Technically a Polanski" at him. Ho ho. A review of the night in a Cornetto Deep Thought style: Raveonettes = Ace Dogs = Fucking sub-Kasabian (yes, that bad) shite Boxer Rebellion = Under-appreciated but swooningly lovely. |

It's Queen Adreena at the ICA tonight. And I can't go. And it's sold out.

Bloc Party - loads of great songs, if a little hollow, but certainly potential.

I'm off to see Duritti Column at the Cockpit in Leeds this evening, I'm going with my tall friend Chutney (6' 6") and his wife (5' 3"), who is heavily pregnant.
I'm posting this as a pre-emptive strike because I suspect I'll forget by Tuesday. Long weekends kick bum. |
