QUOTE (bagpuss @ Oct 11 2004, 08:59 PM) Are you joking or do you really not know? Lando Carissian from Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. He sells Han out to Jabba and the Empire. Excellent Star Wars reference thats often missed in the confusion of the scene on first viewing. (pointed it out to a couple of people when I've been introducing them to Spaced). I always felt that the "You Lando" line was slightly redundant. If you're a Star Wars fan then you will already pick up the reference just from the "They arrived just before you did" line - and if you're not a Star Wars fan then you won't know what it means even if they *do* mention Lando's name (and this point seems to have been illustrated here) Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to criticise because I could never write anything even remotely as good as any of the fantastic stuff in Spaced. But I'm not a huge Star Wars fan by any means and I got it before the "You Lando" line. Anyway, that's just my two cents. Cheers AC |

I think there are two types of great Spaced quotes.
There's the ones I love because the are so funny and clever and then there's the ones I love because they somehow find their way into my every day vocabulary. Bf and I are always quoting Spaced stuff at each other. Have you noticed that I'm just talking shit because it's too hard to think of the quotes I love, because there's toooooooo many of them. One that we use a lot which hasn't been mentioned yet is: "That was research!!!" Cheers AC |

"Is there a key to this lock?" The panic in Mike's voice cracks me up
"A laydee" "tits!" "you treat me like I am a number two" skip to the end... Not really a quote but in Series two when Daisy and Tim go out and Daisy goes over the evening's intinerary, Tim's face on each and every one of the snapshots is hillarious... First post! Yay! |

This Bit of dialogue cracks me up every time!
Business man: have you ever done this before? Mike: You could say that Business man: what do you mean? Mike: lets just say the last time i was in this situation i wasnt using a paint ball gun Business man: You have seen combat? Mike: yes, yes i have Business man: where? Mike: um...on the television Business man: well you just said the last time i was in this situation you didnt use a paint ball gun Tim: he didnt Business man:What did he use? Mike: umm..it was a big stick And not a line, but i love the scene in series 2 where Mike is eating the coffee. the look on his face is priceless. do spaced commentary quotes count? Cos i now find it impossible to not say
"textbook" "fried gold" "classic" or "bafta" at every opportune moment... another classic is from "Art" - The Brian/Vulva scene "Oh Brian, you came..." "No, Ive just spilt my drink..." classic!!! |

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through that lot. Problem is I think the whole two series have been quoted about three times over now, so I'm not sure if I can add anything new to the thread. But here's a few of my favourites (either repeated or not):
"I know you. You're a massive wanker." -Daisy "Derek! Babylon 5's a big pile of shit!" -Tim "GET OUT!" - Derek (we use that at work ALL the time "She's the devil in an A-CUP!" - Marsha (to Colin) "You my friend... are going nowhere. Oh bollocks!" (and following on from that to Brian) "I've been naughty." - Mike "At last I shall have revenge." -Dwayne Not quotes, but scenes that I love: Tim and Daisy faking sex noises with Daisy jumping on the bed and Tim playing on the Playstation. The face Mike pulls after getting back into the TA. Tyres flying out the front room door on his bike. "Ava-Banana!" Tim, being startled awake by Daisy's entrance into the room. "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!" and continues playing Resident Evil 2 without missing a beat. |
