And, in the US, it was #95, checking in just above War and just below Perfect Stranger.

By comparison, Shaun was #129 in the US in its year of release, earning only $13,542,874. Fuzz, on the other hand, took in $23,637,265.

Not bad. Moved up 34 places and grabbed $10 million more.

The most important thing from this is that it will now definitely have a BAFTA nomination. Because it's in the top 10 it'll be up for the public choice award. smile.gif

Edgar Wright For Best Director

New York magazine's opinion on who should be nominated for Oscars.

QUOTE
In an era where most movie comedy depends on skilled improv or outsize personalities, Wright builds his humor directly into the technical details of his filmmaking.

Hooray for Edgar!

Though I notice he is one of the sure to be overlooked performances.

So while singing his praises they are also saying...this definitely wont happen.

'Hot Fuzz' is on the BAFTA shortlist for Best Original Screenplay. But helpfully I can't remember where I read it...

Is the next stage the final nominations, or are all of the films on the short list up for the gong?

I've just read Edgar's note on his MySpace ... it's not in the short list it's still in the long list. I'll amend the News item on it.

I thought that was a bit long for a final list of nominations, but then again, I have no idea how BAFTA work!

I thought it went short list, then nominations. Or does it go long list, short list, nominations? I've got no idea either!

Whatever the list, the lack of noms for Jesse James is shocking...nothing in Best Picture, Director, Screenplay or Music...heathens...
