Oh, I wasn't suggesting it borrowed from Patlabor at all. I was just saying, it felt similar at times.
As a side note Chris, you should give that film a watch. It's bloody gorgeous and it's directed by the guy who did Ghost in the Shell. |

I think this was the first of the films that had an entire scene ruined by the Bat-voice. Hmm, question: I assume that it would start to get painful after a while, so why does he keep up the sore throat thing when he's talking to people who already know who he is? Which is just about everybody by the end of the film.
I liked it, anyway. |

Never mind that, he talks as Batman to himself.

Ha! How did that pass me by? He says "So that's what that feels like" or something, when Catwoman disappears when he turns away for a second. I think it might be because he sees Batman as the 'real' him, and Bruce Wayne as an act. In a lot of the comics and in the cartoons he wears his cowl even in the Batcave. There is a wonderful moment in Grant Morrison's run on JLA where Batman breaks free from some mind control and Superman asks him how he knew he was being controlled and his answer is "Simple. The voice in my head was calling me Bruce..."

I'm not a fan of Nolan's Batman films, they're too long, too boring and take themselves far too seriously, (plus Batman is such a moody fourteen year old's wank fantasy of a character) and this is more of the same but is also surprisingly a bit of a mess. There just seems to be loads of stuff happening that ultimately doesn't add anything. And the bomb and how it was disposed of makes the microwave thing from Begins look good.
It has its odd moments, I liked when Batman returned after eight years, and other bits of action but my favourite thing was Bane's Willy Wonker on steroids voice (Why hellooooooo, Batman). Not as good as Dark Knight, with bits that are better than anything in Begins but it's just such a mess that it could be the least of the three. And on a bit of a separate note, does anybody else dislike Oldman's Gordon? He's just so pompous, I was disappointed when he returned from the dead in 2. |

You're lucky you can afford to go to the cinema to watch movies you know you probably won't like.
