"Joss Whedon is staking his claim to another female superhero. Warner Bros. is on the verge of lassoing the Buffy the Vampire Slayer mastermind to write and direct the studio's long-gestating Wonder Woman feature film, TV Guide Online has learned. The almost-done deal comes just two months after Whedon announced that he was getting out of the TV biz to focus on making movies, beginning with his forthcoming Firefly flick, Serenity. Meanwhile, there's no word on who Whedon may tap to fill Lynda Carter's satin tights, but I'm going to go out on a limb and throw Sarah Michelle Gellar's name into the mix. (Yes, this is how rumors get started, folks.)"

I personally would love to see Joss get his hands on Wonder Woman (tee hee). Who better than the creator of the ultimate post modern ass kicking female to helm a big screen Wonder Woman.

Agree?

I don't have any problems with Weldon doing Wonder Woman at all - should be well written and funny to boot, but I don't see SMG being Wonder Woman material myself . . .

Eliza Dushku however . . . wink.gif

Ooh, how exciting! Joss is a great choice for this and he needs a good project after the lossof Angel, Buffy and Firefly.

Although I'm not too hot on SMG as Womder Woman eitehr, the scrawny little madam. Wonder Woman had booty. Whoever plays her this time had better have a little something going on back there.

Er... I'm sorry, I appear to have turned into an American. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

I think SMG was a little more than speculation on the part of the website. I'd quite like Rachel Bilson to get a go after how great she looked in the costume on 'The O.C.'

Ooh, excellent point. She'd rock. The Boy Who Play Seth (I'll edit his name in later) should be her love interest in this as well.

Anyone got an address for Joss?

Junk in the trunk I believe it's sometimes called.

Whedon + Wonder Woman should = good.

No Dushku though. She had her chance and she picked Tru Calling. She must be made to pay. Plus Wonder Woman shouldn't look like a grumpy sourpuss.

I agree. Joss Whedon is a good choice and, although I don't normally watch it, I happened to see that Wonderwoman episode of the O.C. and she did look amazing.

Wonder Woman is a bit of a rubbish superhero though. She's got a daft hat bulletbroof elbows and the Lasoo of truth. I'd fancy my chances.

I bet there will come a day when we'll all wish we had bullet-proof elbows. I know I do.

And she must get dizzy doing all that spinning!!

I can see this film being very tongue in cheek, like the Charlies Angels films.

True the film was shit, but surely the world is a better place for those Halle Berry in leather cat-suit pictures.

But she's still fit bird hitting baddies in a film. Just wearing leather and not a swimsuit instead.
