Titan will be publishing an Art of book alongside the DVD release. Lots of art and photos and stuff that was kept under wraps pre-release, with an intro from JJ Abrams. Apparently, he saw our Watchmen companions and loved them so much he wanted a ST one for posterity (I don't know how much truth's in that, but it's a nice story).

Cheers for that, I'll have to take a look when it hits the shelves.

I decided the other day that this film is actually quite bad.
Well, bad as a Star Trek film. I guess it works as a summer blockbuster for the kids but I think it's a shame that the franchise has been reduced to shooty spaceships, fisticuffs and nothing else. Even Nemesis - as shit as it was - had some Star Trek ideas in it. |

But it had Time Travel, black holes and Spock being emotionally compromised

Yeah, I'd seen that before. I hate how they used a Star Trek VI clip completely out of context >: (

Can't find the correct thread, but someone ages ago was asking what the music from the (Abrams) Star Trek trailer was.
In case you still don't know, it's these guys: http://www.twostepsfromhell.com/index-home.php who write movie trailer music! I can't decide whether its cynical or inspired, but either way the music sounds just like trailer music and the productions are huge. Interesting! |

Star Trek 2 Release Pushed Back.
No new release date yet, they are still "perfecting" the script. That's never a good sign . . . |

Star Trek 2 Release Pushed Back. No new release date yet, they are still "perfecting" the script. That's never a good sign . . . It's better than them saying "Oh, the script's not ready, but we're going to start shooting right now to meet our June release date", though. I think it's a reason to be cautiously optimistic that they are taking their time over it than just trying to meet a too-short deadline. This post has been edited by maian: Jul 28 2011, 01:33 PM |

I agree it's better to get the script right than start shooting whilst they are still writing, but they have been working on this script for quite a long time already.
This extra delay kind of implies they are having problems. |

From what I've read - and this is largely conjecture - they haven't been able to write a script because Abrams wasn't prepared to commit to direct until he had finished with Super 8, Orci and Kurtzman have been busy with Fringe, and Lindelof was working on the last season of Lost, then went straight onto Prometheus, so it's not so much that they have been writing it for a long time and getting nowhere, so much as they have not been writing it for a long time and are now ready to start.

J.J. Abrams finally signs on to direct Star Trek sequel
More of a formality than anything since everyone expected that he would direct anyway, but it signals that they are finally moving ahead on it. |
