Filming starts next week on the second film, and it's just been announced that Noel Clarke has joined the cast.

Hope he's not wearing a red shirt!

And one Mr Cumberbatch is playing the villian!

He's getting about a bit.

Soon to be appearing in YOUR dreams. Alas, but not our pants.

He is taking over. Bless him - can't say I blame him for striking when the iron is hot. He'll be doing his Rickman impression on Craig Ferguson in a matter of weeks. Unless it has happened already.

The polar opposite to delightful bumbling Cumblepatch is Noel Fucking Clarke. Smug, self-absorbed, no sense of humour and a mediocre talent. My only hope he is only in it for 5 minutes. I would gladly spit in his coffee. Or maybe do a small poo.

Apparently Alice 'Big Tits' Eve is in it too. Something for the hetero males.

They should cast James McAvoy and make it a Starter for 10 reunion!

I wonder who the villain is going to be? (assuming they are mining existing Trek mythology for the bad guy in this one).

Rumours have been abound for a while that the villain is supposed to be Khan, which would make Cumberbatch an unexpected choice for the role.

I don't really know - or care - what Noel Clarke is like in real life, but he was pretty good as Mickey Smith in Doctor Who, so I'm not unhappy to see him in this.

I agree - Noel Clarke can't act. Or direct. Or write. And yes, I've seen both Kidulthood and Adulthood, and both were pretty wretched.

Exactly. I heard him taking credit for Attack the Block on Kermode and Mayo's film review. Unbelievable.

Yeah, it was a bit cheeky, suggesting it would never have been made without him. It's not that I have a problem with "yoof cinema or whatevs", but whereas Kidulthood had some interesting elements, when his character takes centre stage in Adulthood (no surprises being that he's on directorial duty this time round), it's just an indulgent, boring, depressing mess.

First on-set picture.

Good to see some lens flare action there!

ETA:

Not from the new film as it turns out, but from the first film - Bad Digital Spy . . .

The new film is to be called:

Star Trek Into Darkness

Not really sure what to make of that . . .
