Shaun of the Dead has picked up the gong for Best British Film at the 10th annual Sony Ericsson Empire Awards!
Accepting the award was director Edgar Wright who was joined on stage by Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Kate Ashfield and Nira Park. In his acceptance speech Edgar thanked the Empire faithful for their support. Their acceptance speech, as quoted from the Empire web site, is as follows: Simon Pegg: Thank you very much indeed, this is wonderful. Thank you very much to Working Title for getting the film made. Thanks to my pimp. To everyone who worked on the film, to all our zombies that came along and did their stumbling for free. To everyone here… I'm slightly overwhelmed… Edgar? Edgar Wright: I'd like to thank obviously the Empire readers… Simon Pegg: Yes, Empire readers, thanks! Edgar Wright: It's very nice, I've got every single issue of Empire except number one, though I did read it in WH Smith. So, I didn't have quite the foresight to buy it at the time. Sorry about that but thank you for this award. |
