Is it true that the UK try to do a "That 70's show" UK version? If so, how'd it go?

They did do it, it was called 'Days Like These', it used exactly the same scripts (changing some names to more English versions - Red was called Ron, Kelso was called McGuire) but astonishingly managed to lose all the humour.
The cast wasn't anywhere near the high quality of the American version. You can see the cast etc here If you do get a chance to see any of the episodes, don't bother it's terrible! Watch the excellent 'That 70s Show' instead. |

I'll echo that, although the yank version has done a bit of a shark jump recently.
Still it does feature this vision of red-headed amazonia, Laura Prepon ![]() And one of the finest comic actors around in Topher Grace. He's going to be big.

I haven't seen any recent episodes to be honest, but the first few series were excellent. Such a strong ensemble cast for a 'teen' comedy.
Burn!! |

Channel Five showed the firstr 2/3 series-and was repeating them at about 4am Christmas 03/04 (I remember because I was taping them semi-religiously). Don't suppose there's any chance of it being shown at a more reasonable time/a terrestrial channel buying the series? The UK version I can remember some of-It had Emma Pierson in it, the poor man's Keira Knightley who in turn is the poor man's Natalie Portman. |

I was thinking more of where you're likely to find here-feudally speaking she's a serf, Keira's gentry and Natalie's royal/vying for deity status.
But yes, Emma can act-she was very good in Beast. |

Gary the dog was better than Julia.
Did you see Al on Saturday, re-using all the decent lines from Time Gentleman Please? Apprently, Hyde's brother, who plays Francis in Malcolm In The Middle and guested on That 70's Show, is going out with Ms Prepon, the jammy git. |

News series started on Trouble last night.
Sadly, the shark has well and truly been hurdled. It's still a reasonable watch but the glory days are gone. Comparing it to the early years the transformation of Topher is astounding. He now looks like a man. It's much harder to suspend your disbelief that he is a teenager. |

I *love* That 70s Show! I never bothered with it on Channel 5, but then I discovered when I worked at Trouble last year - it's quality. Hyde rocks

QUOTE (Ingram @ May 14 2005, 07:48 PM) I told them they *had* to buy The Wrong Coast. Dunno if you ever saw it, it was frickin hysterical. Claymation of an entertainment show, and the presenters were like Tom and Diane off Family Guy. They were showing it on Friday nights last month, but I missed it. |
