I may have mentioned this before, but I love Bent!
I was wondering if anyone else felt the same, and whether you wanted to talk about it. We can eat sweets and drink fizzy pop at the same time. And does anyone has the 'Downloaded for Love' internet-exclusive album? It's not available to download at the moment, but you can listen to it on the website. I NEED this album - can you help? |

QUOTE (wherearethespoons @ May 24 2005, 06:03 PM) Spoons, I think I love you. That was exactly what I was after, because I just couldn't download them before. Glad there's another fan here - although we seem to be the only ones! Do you have a favourite track and album by the Bent boys? |

Bent are marvellous, well I've only got Programmed to Love and the new(ish) one Ariels but they're both great. Keep meaning to pick up the middle album (can't remember title). Interesting to see how different Ariels was to PTL actually.

Keep meaning to pick up the middle album (can't remember title). Interesting to see how different Ariels was to PTL actually. 'The Everlasting Blink' - It's actually my least favourite of their three real LPs. Ariels however, was a revelation! I bought it on impulse at the end of last year, and promptly bought as much of their back-catalogue as possible. It is very quite different to PTL, a much more mature, individual, and less electronic sound, with goergeous song-writing. Each guest vocalist is perfect for each piece. Although the album sits so well together - and I really noticed this listening on my journey to work yesterday - each track is unique and different and an absolute gem. Then I heard samples from 'Downloaded for Love' yesterday and thought "bloody hell, they've done it again!" Plaisir, betwitched, pussycats - all amazing, uplifting and impossibly good tracks that really made me realise how talented they are. Bent are bloody brilliant!
'Ariels' should be a compulsory purchase for everyone! All the songs are such gorgeous, beautiful things - it is easily their best album yet. I already owned 'Programmed' and 'Blink, so I knew Ariels was going to be a corker, and was purchased immediately. It gets played regularly at work, at home, in the car, on my mobile, everywhere! 'Now I Must Remember', 'On The Lake' and 'You Are The Oscillator' are such achingly wonderful songs, they just hit me where I live. I was rather gutted to have missed most of their supporting set at Orbital's farewell Brixton gig last year, but what I did hear of it was supoib! Must make every effort to see them live at some point again soon. Cheers for those DFL links, Spoons, you are a star. |

I've heard a few of their songs on several different albums and they've all been very well produced and certainly quite enchanting. Which LP would be best to get hold of first?

The Strongbow bar was cool last year, actually - I seem to recall a tree in there with lots of lights and flowers and stuff. And their beverage of choice was certainly easier on the wallet than the Finlandia cocktail bar |
