Did Ricky Gervais give any reason for not attending the Emmys? I mean, it was extremely funny watching Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert give the award to Steve Carrell because Ricky Gervais hadn't turned up, but no explanation was given and he didn't record a message or anything. I assume it wasn't planned by Gervais but by Stewart/Colbert because of their relationship with Carrell but I don't know.

Has anyone watched Fame yet? I didn't think it was as good as Animals or Politics but it was still quite funny. One gripe, it did seem very close to the mark on a few occasions. It seems like he has gotten too complacent in the persona he has developed for stage and screen and what used to be subtle ironic digs have just turned sour.
Delicate stuff this... one false move and I'm Jim Davidson. On the plus side I watched Karl Pilkington: Satisfied Fool recently and thought it was quite funny. It might be quite naive of me but I haven't decided whether or not he is 100% a character. He's just a bit too real. |

I think he started off 100% real. And is now about 80% real, 20% exaggerated for comic effect.
But he's 100% funny so it matters not. |
