me and my friend have been arguing for a while now so we thought we'd put it down to public vote. I personally think that Futurama is loads better then The Simpsons.

It's true-it's impossible to chose! One is not more superior than the other, they are both genius.

Oh, tough one...I'd have to say the Simpsons. Although Futurama is amazingly brilliant, the Simpsons is just so...i don't know, great. There aren't words adequate to say what the Simpsons is. It is the benchmark for all animated shows. Without it, there's be no Futurama, South Park, Family Guy or any of the other shows. Plus it has some of the best written and funniest moments ever committed to television.
The Simpsons embiggens us all with it's sheer cromulence. |

However-Futurama, Family Guy (first 3 seasons) have the advantage of being cut off in their prime. Anyone who's watching later Simpsons episode's will agree they're slowly going downhill, and that more often than not they don't hit the mark. |

I love the simpsons - very much my first love as far as TV shows go. however, I said Futurama because it is more laugh-out-loud funny; the Simpsons is just a constat sniggery kind of humour. Plus all of the characters in Futurama are very funny - whereas in the Simpsons, Marge and Lisa are rarely a source of amusement and they are 2 of the main crew. I think that expanding the Simpsons universe has weakend it slightly - sure, people like ralph Wiggum, Krusty, The police force, the mob and kang and kodos are excellent comic additions, many of the characters are just unneccessary add-ons. The Futurama crew is relatively small - a total cast of maybe 30/35 - but they are all gold (the Harlem Globetrotters, Omicronians, Zap and Kif).
Whilst I appreciate the importance of the Simpsons as a pioneer of animation, I just think that Futurama's charcters are funnier and the show is more consistent; can go entire episodes of the Simpsons without laughing, whereas I laugh multiple times at every epsiode of the 'Rama. Both quality programs though. |

The Simpsons is the greater achievement but Futurama is the better show.

I love the simpsons, but I enjoy futurama that little bit more, Its funnier and has better storylines. I have lost faith in the new episodes of the simpsons Its like they try to hard now. But if futurama was still going I suppose the same would happen.

Futurama is the mutt's nuts! I am now proud to own every episode committed to disk! Simpsons rules but I'm a bit tired of it now. It rarely offers anything new anymore, just 'celebrity' cameos. Don't get me wrong, I adore the Simpsons but I gotta stick up for the little guy!

They're both great shows, but Futurama is the one I laugh at more, and re-watch more often. Even the DVD commentaries are fun. Futurama is also a bit darker and more cynical than The Simpsons, which works for me, but I can see someone preferring The Simpsons for the same reason.
