Had to be Futurama - Simpsons set the bar but Futurama raised it waaaay up. It is classic comedy genius. Zapp Brannigan - the greatest comic character ever? Discuss.

Zapp is good, but Bender is great. He's an evil, lying, cheating, smoking, drinking, folk-music-singing thief. What's not to like?

True - after I wrote that post, I thought 'actually...maybe Bender is the best.'
All the characters in Futurama are comedy gold though...it would be so hard to choose my favourite!

QUOTE (PrincessKate @ Jun 6 2005, 09:02 PM)
However-Futurama, Family Guy (first 3 seasons) have the advantage of being cut off in their prime. Anyone who's watching later Simpsons episode's will agree they're slowly going downhill, and that more often than not they don't hit the mark.

Whilst I've never liked Family Guy, that bit about Futurama is true. The Simpsons has been very bad for years but because the show has done so much and covered so much it must be hard to take it to new places. I'm sure the same would happen had Futurama been allowed to continue as long. In one way I'm glad Futurama ended because there is nothing worse than a favourite being flogged to death and eventually ruined (see also: Only Fools and Horses).

I've never felt compelled to buy any Simpsons dvds. This may be because they're on tv all the time but it wouldn't be too difficult to record all of Futurama and i still felt the need to buy all of those. So, yeah, my vote went to Futurama.

Woo Zoidberg! Some classic lines and he became so loveable once he was destitute.

Best Zapp line has to be from the pregnant Kif one:

Zapp: (after waking Leela from being asleep) How about we finish that dream you were having about me
Leela: Ok (punchs him)
Zapp: Now let's try that a little softer and a lot lower

futurama is alot funnier than the simpsons, The simpsons stopped being funny a long while ago. And has been repeated to death on TV.

Family Guys better than the two of them put together

It's a difficult call. The Simpsons is brilliant but not always consistent, and the first season is so dated now. Futurama managed to keep high quality up for its entire run, and at times the animation was outstanding.

Futurama just shades it for me, mainly because The Simpsons never quite achieved anything as heartbreaking as the "Jurassic Bark" episode.

I think the Simpsons is still funny and the good episodes/moments more than outweigh the good, and that the more recent efforts show an improvement on some of the episodes from season 9/10 to 12.

I'm tempted to unofficially change my vote to Futurama...

i cried at that eisode, its so sad to think how much it wouldve meant to seymour to see fry just one more time before going off to doggy heaven sad.gif

and also its good to see so many people liking Futurama more than The Simpsons, im well chuffed biggrin.gif and the best characters are Fry (just coz he got off with a radiator) and the Zapper (coz of the way he pronounces champaign) also Bender and the proffesor have their moments.
