I'm quite the fan of disturbing films, such as graphic horror like Miike's "Ichi" (and pretty much everthing that man's done. Love the nutter.) and disturbing or generally wierd like Cronenberg's "Naked Lunch" et al. I haven't seen much of it, though, really, and was wondering if there're any other fans that could suggest some. I'm thinking more wierd "mindfuck" types (post-Scanners-Cronenberg style) than graphic, generally, but all suggestions welcome.

David Lynch's Eraserhead, Blue Velvet & Mulholland Drive are pretty twisted.
Early John Waters - Pink Flamingos, Female Trouble & polyester - trashy & twisted
You want really twisted...the Japanese "Guinea Pig" films...personally I won't go near them

Faux-snuff/toture may be a little too much, methinks... I'm more looking for Naked Lunch typies. Not bloody, but disturbing none the less. Like Gozu, I suppose. You just don't see a lot of them about, though I hear Lynch does it well.

I think Lynch is one of the kinds of twisted. Blue Velvet for sure.

There is 60's film starring Rock Hudson called "Seconds". For its time its very odd throughout. The end is very twisted.

Have you seen 'Man Bites Dog'? I remember it having quite a profound effect on me when I first watched it - though I was twelve.
Great concept, visceral violence and very funny. Perhaps more 'extreme' than 'twisted' though.

The Belgian hitman? Funny, funny film. More "odd" than either twisted or extreme. It's a peculiarity, and is well welcome in this thread

I guess
Henry Portrait Of A Serial Killer deserves a mention too
I've heard that Neil LaBute is a bit twisted. Have only seen
The Shape Of Things - which certainly fits the bill at the end.

That's the one, but he's a serial killer as opposed to a hitman
"I always like to start the month with a postman"
Starts off very funny, but goes to some really dark places once the documentary crew get involved.

Of course... He steals from them to get money...
The pigeons and the "come along" creepiness... I can't remember it being "really" dark, though. The effect the documentary has on the director is interesting, though...

The scene where the crew (who are film students making a documentary) go from being just complicit to gang raping a woman (who has just seen her boyfriend killed) before she herself is killed it the most brutal stabbing I've ever seen is pretty dark.
Or maybe I was just being over sensitive, I was a 12 year old girl after all.

No, your right..that was
the dark moment in that film. The tone changed completely from that point

I should get that film and watch it again, it's obviously been too long. I do remember that now you've mentioned it. Pretty nasty...
