ok spaced out peoples, can i have your advice quickly?
last week i was offered a ticket to see rem at hyde park for £35. i ummed and ahhed but due to the events of thursday the concert was postponed until this sat.
do i go? because i like rem, but i haven't heard much of their new stuff - in fact, i think their best stuff is all the IRS albums from the eighties. but then i heard their greatest hits today and it sounded brilliant.
i saw them years back, around the time of monster, and they were really good. but do i want to go and stand in a field for four hours on sat night? and is that worth £35? because until i get paid, moneys too tight to mention. gah! advice please!
plus the guy who is offering me the tickets is a bit of a stalker, so thats kinda weird.
i said i'd let him know tomorrow evening, so...

You have to go. They are outstamding live, I saw them on the up tour in Manchester and it was an amazing gig despite the fact they were only this " big. The new albums is really good very mellow. They tend to play a greatest hits set now anyway

Well I don't know the stalker concerned, but if you can put up with him (him!..a male stalker...your so cosmopolitan

) for a whole day and you like REM, then I'd say go.
Unless of course they have that VIP area in front of the stage like they have had at a lot of Hyde Park gigs, in which case, I wouldn't bother.

I think if you're not too fussed about whether you go or not, you shouldn't bother. Don't go just because you don't want to miss out on the opportunity, go because you really want to.
You've seen them before so you've experienced seeing them perform live and that guy sounds strange;maybe he might try and seduce you...

yeah, i'm hoping they will do a greatest hits kinda show. plus i think they always pull out some oldies these days. i'm swaying towards yes, but its £35 i could do with not spending.
my stalker is just a guy i used to go to school with. we called him 'the phantom' because he'd just appear. he's lived in london for a few years but doesn't really know too many people - when he split up with his girlfriend i took pity and took him out to some bars and stuff and now he wants to go and do cool things all the time whereas i want to sit in and talk nonsense on t'internet.
but he is a bit weird. he reminds me of john redwood.

I've given up too many opportunities to see amazing bands live because I just wasn't sure about it. What real harm could come? And, you might have an amazing time. I say go.

If the setlist is a worry for you then you shouldn't be too concerned, they tend to play the stuff from their best recent albums (mostly from Automatic...) and a few golden oldies (as far as I know they always play 'It's the end of the world...) and they are amazing live.
But if you'd rather not spend the money then you should put some serious thought into it.
I'm so very unhelpful

I would have said "yes" right up until you mentioned the stalker.
What else would you do with the 35 quid?

I'd go with the indecision and say no.

I'd go with the indecision and say no.
you sure?
the money would probably go on food. cakes, maybe. from lidl.
and i feel bad about calling this guy a stalker. thats a bit harsh, he's more a kind of weird guy that just wants to hang out with me. do you remember the footage of john redwood attempting to sing the welsh national anthem? thats him.

Well that's made my mind up - you're not going.
Food = good
Redwood miming = bad

Hmmm... yeah, and there's always the possibility that he'll take your attending the concert as your wishing to spend more time with him and attempt to make that happen...
It's a tough one.

I'd say Yes because you are tending to lean that way anyway. If the money is just going to go to other indulgences anyway, you should spend it on live music of a band that you like. I, too, have said no to concerts and always later regreted it.
