So... someone said that Skeletor was not scary... I disagree... So... who do you think was scarier?
m0r1arty
Before I vote, are we talking bandaged Mumm Ra or big blue Mumm Ra or both of em together?

BTW Mumm Ra is what me and my firneds get at the side of our lips whilst camping/drinking/munting

Zoe
Mumm Ra is just a magic mummy trying to get on with his business on his planet - it's the Thundercats who are the bastards (oh dear not this again).

However, when provoked he can be terrifying.
Henry Krinkle
I voted Skeletor. He has a bigger supply of hench men.

Skeletor. I shudder when I think of the wierd gory mess that would be the interface of his fleshy, muscular neck and his bony head. If he went to Bluewater and had to remove his hood to comply with their rules perhaps we'd see if his spinal column protruded from his meaty torso and up to his skull, or if his neck had a neat tapered finish and his head just kind of 'floated' in position.
Svein
I do always wonder about these "evil geniuses"...

Why such pathetic henchmen?

I think it was because the evil geniuses themselves are quite rubbish (their latest masterplan generally gets thwarted in about half an hour, on average). Perhaps they use incompetent henchmen so they can lay the blame for their failure elsewhere, instead of looking a little closer to home.

There you go Mumm Ra and Skeletor. Food for thought there...

Based on that argument, Mumm-Ra is obviously the superior of the two. The Mutants were crash victims - they were henchmen by proxy, rather than henchmen Mumm-Ra actively sought out and hired.

You argue a fine point there. Perhaps I will reaccess my point of view and recast my vote.
gulfcoast_highwayman
I always liked the Viz Profanasaurus entry for Mumm-Ra, namely creeping up behind your Mum and shouting RAAAA!

Another good point! Snake Mountain was indeed a very attractive property. I'm going to draw up a list of Pros and Cons on a big A2 sized flip chart now, not just for this thread, but because I'm internally conflicted about the whole thing and I need to address that.
m0r1arty
Part from Greyskull (it has the sorceress)

So Mumm Ra, are we talking pre or post "Ancient spirits of evil transform this decayed form into Mumm Ra the Ever Living!"?
Svein
Snake Mountain was far superior to Greyskull... although I did have a Castle Greyskull...

I'm ashamed to say I had both Castle Greyskull and Snake Mountain as a child. Their interiors were not very accurate when compared to the cartoon series. Castle Greyskull had a rug concealing a trapdoor furchristsakes!

And if you stuch the rug decor on the trapdoor, then the door got stuck!
Henry Krinkle
Maybe the bad guys weren't incompetent after all. Maybe the blame lies with their Mattel produced Weapons, Vehicles and Hideouts!

Did anyone have that blue vehicle that He-Man would ride around on? The front would break off to make a flying jet ski type thing...

While you ponder that, you can decide whether or not hosting a party is high on the list for deciding the villain pecking order.

That's about the funniest thing I've read all day! Tears are very nearly streaming from my eyes.

QUOTE (Jinx's link)
I can't believe nobody ever set up a hidden camera in a child's bedroom to see what stories they come up with for their toys. I'd be blacklisted for life if someone did that to me. My toys had sex more often than a 17-year-old bleached Jerseygirl E-head. And it wasn't normal sex...I mean, I had turtles fucking aliens from Jabba's palace, April O'Neil making out with Boba Fett, it all transcended size, gender, and species. Yeah, so, back to the matter at hand...
JeffStuka
Skeletor had evil dirt hussy, Evil Lyn. I bet if you accidentally kicked the football over the hedge and into her garden you wouldn't get it back again. That gives him the villain advantage, having an evil bint.
m0r1arty
Mind you Teela was the lovechild of Man-at-Arms and the Sorceress, so that must've left her alittle shook up, Dad's a general, mums a wikka.

That gives the good guys the edge I think! smile.gif

Mmm Teela and Evil Lynn wrestling!

Wha???
I knew that Duncan (Man at Arms to you) was Teela's Dad, but I never knew of this Sorceress scandal! Is that true? Did Teela inherit any magic powers (change into an eagle, etc)
Serafina_Pekkala
Evil Lynn - Crikey this is a nostalgic thread, eh?

I got hit in the face at school with a Ram-Man toy and had to be sent home cos my nose bled. He-Man/Serafina fact there for you, fact fans.

I can't look at anything He-Man associated without thinking of Fr DOugal's duvet cover now.

Showing my age and my pre-teen nerdishness I remember first seeing He-Man in DC Comics.

I think it was a 16 page insert in an issue of 'DC Comics Presents', which was a title that featured Superman teamed with a different DC character each month.

It was drawn by Curt Swan I think, Superman artist supreme at the time.

Was Tella killed off in a mysterious Wind Raider accident whilst fleeing the Eternian paparazzi?

That took me a minute...

None that I'm aware of, but there was a good few stories were Man-at-arms (Duncan if needs be!) and the sorceress had to talk alittle (reminice too) in order to save Teela from dying or something.

Forget that though, Who was Adams dad??!!??

I always thought that Prince Adam's Dad was the King of Eternia.

Anyone remember an episode where Orcle met a girl Orcle, and at the end of the episode he took off his hat and scarf to show her his face, but we only got to see the sillouetted shadows on the wall!!!
I felt totally ripped off! I would have even settled for seeing the back of his head!
m0r1arty
Was that the wizardess with the X on their front, or was that Orcle met his cousin?

-m0r
gulfcoast_highwayman
It's ORKO!

Snarftastically annoying.

m0r1arty

Montork

Dree-Elle

Squange

and

Yuckers

Adams dad King Randor

Adams MILF, Queen Marlena

in a similar veign, Teela

(ahem) Evil Lyn

In fact there ios a whole bunch of em over at he-man.org

Well worth wittling the hours away!!

-m0r

EDIT: It's Milf not milk eh?

V Check out his Mum!!!, I like em fiery readeds
gulfcoast_highwayman
Teela is a feirce ginger amazon. Just the way I like 'em.
Henry Krinkle
Stukes and m0r, thanks for the information overload. I may print out all the pages from He-man.org and read them on the toilet at some point this evening. It's okay. I'm at work. The printing is free.

And gulfcoast_highwayman, me getting Orko's name wrong is nothing. For years (as a child) I thought there were characters called 'Manny Arms' and 'Evelyn'.

Fabulous, could have been the first jewish character in a kids TV show.
m0r1arty
Any idea when Mumm Ra was Mumm Ra yet, or are we doing both old man and blue man?

-m0r
Julie
I'm pretty sure Skeletor would have given me nightmares had I been that sort of child.
Sean of the Dead
I voted for Skeletor seeing as he's a skeleton with meaty limbs *shudders*
Svein
Sweet and meaty!
Kick in the Head
What's so scary about Skeletor? He's just a cackling wimp who digs blue spandex and purple body armour. Mumm Ra knew how to make an entrance and was perma-furious. Plus he lit up!

If you want to compare the scariness, just check out the Mumm Ra action figure:

I mean it has LIGHT UP EYES!

That just makes him seem as camp as the villains from the 60's Batman series.
Big whoop.
Starscream`s Ghost
OK.

Mumm-Ra was the scariest.

Man-at-Arms was not Teela`s biological father, he was her adopted father.
Henry Krinkle
So who was Teela's biological Father then?

It's like Trisha, this.
m0r1arty
Wait a wee min,

Man-at-arms and the socessraus (fuck it) wsere once upon a time lovers, and Teela is the sorcerous' daughter, and Duncan is now an 'adopted' parent, so Who the frig is Teelas dad?

AND WHAT VERSION OF MUMM FUCKIN RA ARE WE TALKING ABOUT!

Skeletors coming by default, I tell ye, I Mumm Ra here's about his poor democratic representation, he's gonna get Egyptian on yer asses

-m0r
Svein
I'm talking about both versions of Mumm Ra... they were both pretty gross!
m0r1arty
Cheers, well Mumm Ra has the advantage for me then.

But I think if it were just big blue, skeletor would win.

-m0r
Henry Krinkle
There have been two (to my knowledge) 're-imaginings' of He-Man. One around the early 90's called The New Adventures of He-Man where he was jetted of to another planet, and a new Masters of the Universe cartoon that is currently on TV (sunday mornings ITV???).
The latter even revealed Skeletors back story and how he got all skull headed. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the new Masters of the Universe cartoon is actually pretty good. It has bad guys that are genuinely forces to be reckoned with. Admittedley, when they showed Skeletor pre-skull he did have a rather pathetic looking musketeer style goatee, but I am still going to have to say that the Skeletor from the new series hands down beats Mumm Ra in any incarnation.
m0r1arty
Why did He-Man and skeltor bugger off to that other world anyways?

And why did He-man still pretend to be Adam (or vie-versa)

The New cartoon is pretty good, apart from the robot.

Loads of more guys to buy too!
